Happy Sunday. Hope your day was as beautiful where you are as it is here! The sun is shining, the frogs are calling, the birds are singing and... it's in the low 60s. Perfect!
I got to play in my craft room today and saw this great sketch across at casethissketch. The team really does come up with some great sketches, and this one is no exception.
I was drawn to the sketch because it really forces me out of my comfort zone. For some reason I never put an element in the top left hand corner... why? cos, I'm stuck in my little rut, that's why!
It took a little thinking to work out what that focal element would be and then I remembered this fabulous flower in the new Bloom with Hope set and I realized it would be perfect for trying out my new Stampin' Up! Blendabilities that will be available in the new catalog. More about that, after my card!
I had tremendous fun coloring this image and realized that it would be perfect on the rich, luscious, regal color that is the new In Color Blackberry Bliss. I swear, this is my favorite, all-time, ever, Stampin' Up! color. I loved it when we saw it at the release party, but I love it even more now that I have it in hand.
Here's my take on the challenge:
The sketch called for a couple of elements around the focal image, so I used some enamel dots and hearts, using the yellow one to pull out the yellow in the middle of the flower. Talking about that flower. Isn't it gorgeous? It's beautifully drawn and really was wonderful to color. Now. Y'all know that I love my Copics, so I was interested to see how the SU Blendabilities would match up to them. I have to tell you, that I love them! I ordered one set in the pre-order the Cherry Cobbler set. It comes in a pack of three with a light, medium and full color tone of Cherry Cobbler. It made choosing the colors to blend a breeze. They also do blend beautifully. I was very impressed.I used Neenah Solar White card stock for my focal layer, as I wanted something a little heavier than Whisper White. It took the Blendabilities very well, with almost no leaking of color through to the back of the card stock. I will certainly be putting more of the Blendabilities onto my order in June.On a personal note:As so many of you have sent me emails or left messages saying you are enjoying my nature photos, I will try to share one with you each night. We still have some water left in the wetland. Hooray! Enough for these two to have taken up residence:
Aren't they adorable, all tucked up for a little nap? Here's a long shot of them. You can see our wetland sign... it seems to make an appearance in a lot of my shots. However, it does help to orientate you, too. :-)
If you look to the left of the sign, you will see their little island with the tree. They seem to have decided to make that their home. They have also partaken of the corn under the feeder, too. They are nice neighbors!Talking of neighbors, Georgina has not made a return to her burrow and we are now convinced that she has abandoned it for good. We really will miss her and I will miss watching her bring up and parent her little babies. Georgie Porgie, Pudding and Pie were quite a handful for her last year, but she did a great job!As always, thank you for your visit and your comments. I'll be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.HugsJaydeeCard recipe - ingredients Stampin' Up! unless noted:
