Wedding Wheels for Paper Players #198

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme challenge for us.

Now.... this is the second time in a month that I have wished I had looked ahead at the Paper Players challenges before making my card.  For challenge #195 I made this card, which was a clean and simple floral card.  Challenge number #196 turned out to be a clean and simple floral theme and I had to make this card.  If I had looked ahead I could have created a different card for challenge #195!  Anyway, last week I made this card for LeAnne's sketch challenge and, because I needed a wedding card, I created one!   Guess what the challenge is for this week?

Yep.... a wedding themed card!

I couldn't use the Hello Love set again and I don't have any wedding themed stamps, so I went to My Digital Studio and found that I had the digital image that Nance had used to create the badge.  Lightbulb!!!!

I used the image, but decided I wanted to send it to the background.  I needed a large sentiment and found one in the My Digital Studio download called Wedding Words.  I love the crisp clean font used and it was perfect for what I wanted.   A very clean, crisp, non-fussy, wedding card.

Here's my card:

As it is pouring with rain, and the light is really low, I had to rush out and take a photo in between storms.  So, it's really not the best shot!  I used my wink of stella pen on the & sign and, because there is no real light, it doesn't show you the shimmer, but it looks pretty in real life.

I colored the couple on the bike image with Sahara Sand and used Primrose Petals for the & and Basic Black for the Mr and Mrs.  I printed it into Whisper White card stock and cut it to 5 x 3 3/4 and mounted it onto a Basic Black base.  I was really pleased with the way it came out and sorry that I couldn't get a decent shot.

The Players have some fabulous cards for your inspiration.  Don't forget to check out their blogs and then come back to the Paper Players and play along with us.  You can make a wedding card, invitation, favor, anniversary card - anything wedding related!

On a personal note:

Well, the concrete was put in this morning underneath the deck.  The concrete patio we had wasn't quite wide enough, or long enough, for the underdecking system, so we had to add 2 feet all the way around.  The concrete should be ready to brush and paint by Wednesday and all we need then is for the decking guys to come in and put the screening in - and the under-deck roofing system.  The roofing system will help to keep us dry as it channels the rain from the deck into downspouts and means that we can sit under the deck and keep the rain from dropping on our heads!

The mosquitoes hatched this week and they are the size of tyanosaurus rex!  I swear they are HUGE - oh.. and hungry!  This means that our screening system cannot be installed fast enough.

We were really hoping our 25-30 foot trees would be in this week but, as the weather has been too wet, we couldn't get them in.  It rained today and is due to rain for the next two days, so we might not get them in this coming week either!

We are hoping our landscaper will be back to install the shrubs and wildflowers we have ordered.  Lots of native shrubs bearing fruit and flowers to create even more space for the birds to nest and roost.

I caught a shot of these guys at dusk the other night.

Deer at dusk

The changing light on the water never ceases to fascinate me.   I have LOVED having so much water in the wetland this year, even if it does bring more mosquitoes and delay our landscaping!   Last night I looked over the wetland and saw the setting sun catching the trees across from us.  I loved how they were reflected in the water.

Fading light

Lastly, you might remember that I told you I had seen a Mallard hen encouring her little ducklings into the water and swimming with them to the longer grasses in the wetland.  She had nested very close to us and was looking to get them to a safer place.

Last night I saw her sitting in the sun with her babies.  My camera doesn't have a great lens, but I hope you can see her and the babies.

Ethel and her babies-2

Aren't they adorable?  She preened and they all sat in the sun for a little while, but then decided it was time to go off and swim.  I don't think it was quite as easy for her to keep them altogether this time, as they were swimming off in all directions!  It was wonderful to sit on the deck and watch them.   Colleen.   It really is distracting I can tell you.  I also wonder what on earth I miss when I'm not looking out of the window!

As always, thank you for your visit and your comments.   Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift.  Sandy, extra prayers for you.

I'll be back with another card tomorrow.

Hugs

Jaydee

I love Everything about your clean&simple wedding card!

Nance Leedy

I just LOVE this image and how you've used it on your clean and classy wedding card. The colors, sentiment and clean images are perfect for a modern couple--great job, Jaydee!

Ann Schach

I LOVE this card! It is so clean and PERFECT! And of course, I always love your wildlife photos. You live in a wonderful spot!

Linda Callahan

Terrific!

Rach

I so love your CAS style, Jaydee! I love everything about this card. Well done!

I'm chuckling at your deer as B and I have seen so many on our morning runs of late. Last week there were a doe and fawn in the middle of the path and as they saw us approaching, the doe moseyed away--no running for her. The fawn was apparently quite inquisitive and stayed there so long B was almost able to touch him! He too merely wandered off, no bounding into the woods.

Today we saw three more deer, a bunny, numerous squirrels, and boy howdy were the birds noisy! We were out by 6:00 and it turns out the nature trail is a busy place! ;o)

Our mosquitoes are also roasting size and ridiculously hungry. UGH!

The ducklings and their mama are beyond delightful, I'm so happy you got that shot! :o)

Hugs!

P.S. Hi Lou! :o)

 Susan Mac

LeAnne

LOL...well, we don't always "plan" our creativity, do we?! But I love your sweet little wedding card (I don't have many wedding stamps either!!!) and I think it's as cute as can be! Love your wildlife too!

Oh and ps thanks for your prayers. Hopefully Bill will be home from the hospital tomorrow.

Jaydee when I saw your card last week I was thinking the same thing, it would have been perfect for this week's challenge! So love what you created, and was surprised to see you had the same image as in the challenge badge. A beautiful and elegant card. Those little baby ducks are adorable! Wish I could have seen Mama Duck try to keep them together!

I envy your card making skills and the opportunity to live where you live. I wish so much that I could live "out" from the busyness of life and enjoy nature as you are able to. Ahhhhhh, guess that is not part of my life's journey. So, thank you for sharing. I can live my life vicariously through you! LOL.

Doris D.

I absolutely love your card. The shadow in the background makes this card shine. Great job.
Your wildlife is just fascinating. The ducks in a row are precious.
I read yesterday to spray Listerine around your sitting area to ward off mosquitos.

Jaydee, this card is beautiful!! I've never used MDS but this image is perfect.
I always enjoy your photos of at the Wetlands too. It all looks so serene. Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful card Jaydee; simple and yet it makes for a lovely wedding card and I can see the shimmer on the &.
What a wonderful view from your deck and looks like everyone is enjoying the water but them little ducklings; well they're not too sure in taking that first dip. :}

Sent you an email with listing of mosquitoe repellant plants. Years ago I wasn't too concerned about getting a mosquitoe bite, but now days I'm being extra carful. Many deaths have occurred here in Texas just from a mosquitoe bites so do be careful when sitting outside.

Marina

Hi Jaydee!!

So beautiful! Thanks so much! . . . I can assure you that God reserves the best moments for when you are watching through the window . . . He knows you highly appreciate those moments.

Happy Sunday!!

Marina . . . from far Africa.

Terri

Sooooo lovely! Those sweet deer! I agree, I wonder what's going on when you're not watching!
