Flower Patch for Paper Players #202

The British are Coming. The British are Coming :-)

Hi Everyone.

Sorry.  I couldn't resist it :-)  Our friends have arrived on American soil and are enjoying the delights of the gorgeous city of Chicago for a couple of days before they arrive here on Sunday.  We are really looking forward to seeing them and spending time with them.  Are we ready for them yet?  NO WAY!

I've spent so much time at work the last few days trying to ensure that I will be able to take time off next week, that it has left me with little time to do anything!

However, I did want to pop in tonight and share a couple of photos with you.  Our flowers are starting to flourish now that we have had a few warm, dry days.  I walked past the prairie plantings on the west side of the house and they exploded with dragonflies, butterflies and bees.  It brought tears to my eyes.    It really did.  That's the reason we did this and to see  SO many of them, made my heart sing. :-)

At the front of the house, the plants are really taking hold this year.  As we planted fairly late in the season last year, we didn't ge the real effect of them.  The Spiderwort has quadrupled this year and, every morning, greets us with a profusion of purple flowers.

I know it's hard to tell, but this plant takes  up about 5 feet (in diameter) of space in the rain garden!

I'm pleased to say that these guys are still hanging around:

It's so surreal for me to stand on the deck and watch them flying in and out.  I've never really had the opportunity to observe them outside of National Parks.  It makes me even more grateful than ever for what we have outside our window and how blessed we are.

Now, I feel like the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.  I'm late.  I'm late.  For a very important date.  Or.... at least I will be if I don't get off my tushy and go finish the jobs that I need to finish before P&R and R&R arrive! :-)

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Yes, you ARE blessed, and so are we to enjoy your beauty vicariously. That egret is so ethereally white.

Is that Queen Anne's lace?

Your guests will be so gobsmacked by the deck and the changes outside that they'll never notice if you don't accomplish your to-do list, so don't fret. Enjoy!

Everything is so Gorgeous and that White Yarrow is beautiful. The egret sure looks like he is enjoying the wetlands.
What a wonderful and beautiful environment for all your woodland creatures big and small.
What a joy it will be sitting in your screened in porch and taking in the wonders of nature.
Thanks for sharing your lovely photos.
