Geometric Birthday for Addicted to CAS #45
16 August 2014
Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday.
It's the fabulous Harriet's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge and she has a fabulous word for us:
It took me a little while and then I remembered I had an old (an rarely used set) sitting in the back of my crafting cupboard that I thought would be ideal for this challenge. It also forced me to actually give this stamp set some inky-love!
It also gave me an opportunity to use some funky new embossing powder called Verdigris from Ranger. It has different shades of green and even some gold in it. It looks very cool when you heat set it. (Note.... it takes longer than normal to heat set and will remain sticky for a couple of minutes. So, once you heat set it, don't touch it. Just leave it to the side to cool.)
I used three different geometric shapes from the set and inked them up using Versamark. I then sprinkled the verdigris embossing powder and heat set it. The last thing I did was take the sentiment and ink it in a very dark black ink. All that was left to do was to mount the focal layer and add some bling.
Here's my take on Harriet's challenge:
The design team have created some fabulous cards for your inspiration. I hope we have all inspired you enough to want to play along with us this week. If you need a little more incentive, then I'll tell you that the winner will win three fabulous digis from our sponsor this week!
On a personal note:
For those of you who didn't see my blog post last night about putting your unused cards to really good use.... check out the link here. I know that you have some cards that you made that you would love to send to a good home? Well I can't think of three better causes :-)
I also have a couple of nature shots for you tonight. I cannot believe how tall our native plants have gotten. I looked out over the balcony and realized just how tall they are. Can you see anything peeking out from the flowers?
Can you see that head poking up? Need a closer look?
Yes, it's Niles and Daphne. The Sandhills stand around 3.5 feet tall and the fact that they are hidden in parts of the prairie shows you how tall some of these plants are! We are thrilled with the diversity that have popped up this year and can't wait to see what comes up next year! I'll try and get out tomorrow and take some more photos for you.
I'll be back early Sunday morning with my Paper Players card. In the meantime warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. Special prayers for Jeanne. Big hugs, my friend, I know how hard these next few days will be for you.
Hugs
Jaydee
