Christmas Baubles for showcase your style
25 November 2014
Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday
I hope you are all having a great week and are ready for Thanksgiving! I wanted to share a card with you tonight that I made for a new challenge site showcase your style. They have a great challenge for us:
For some reason I rarely put silver and gold together, but this photo was so gorgeous that I absolutely had to give it a try. Oh... and the fact that the design team cards were so fabulous helped, too!
The baubles were my starting point and reminded me of a set that I have had in my stash for a long time and the stamps come with a little die cut for the baubles, which was perfect. It's called "Holiday Cheer".
Here's my take on the challenge. I'm really sorry about the photo, but the weather has been mostly English-in-winter-style... meaning, cold, wet, grey and dull :-) So, I was forced to take this photo in my dining room and the lighting really isn't good enough. The colors are really much more intense and dramatic in real life!
I really love the dramatic colors with the little pop of gold and silver and all of that white space :-)
I hope you will pop along to showcase your style and check out the challenge and the design team cards.
On a personal note:
I cannot tell you how excited I am to be having a long weekend.... hopefully I will get some play time in my craft room and some time to just relax. As vegetarians, I don't have to spend hours prepping and cooking a turkey, so prep time for Thanksgiving lunch is less time-consuming. A vegetarian meatloaf with roast potatoes, a wonderful new squash called Butterkin - a cross-between butternut squash and pumpkin which is delicious - especially roasted with a little bit of olive oil, gorgonzola cheese and walnuts! Finished off with some green vegetables and mushroom gravy. OK... I shouldn't have written this blog post whilst I was hungry :-)
I wanted to let Gill, Colleen and Marsha know that their goodies for the Cards for a Cause drive are on their way from SU :-)
I have also heard from all 3 charities and they are thrilled with the quality - and quantity of the cards they received. Each one of them commented on how beautiful the cards were and I couldn't agree more.
There has been a lot of activity in the garden for the last few days - including the arrival of my favorite little winter birds:
We are hoping that we will be able to keep them around this year now that we have the conifers - especially as they have been wrapped for winter. It should create a nice environment for the little birds, including the Junco.
Now... this guy hung around for a couple of days, but, because the weather has been pretty drab, it was hard to get a photo.
It's not your eyes... the photo is out of focus :-)
I was sitting working away at my desk today and looked into the wetland and saw not 1 but 2 redtailed hawks hunting. We don't see them often, especially not in pairs, so it was great to be able to observe them for a while.
Well, I'll be back tomorrow with another card for you. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. And, to echo Colleen B: if you are traveling, travel safe!
Hugs
Jaydee

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Lou too. My daughter just turned vegan last summer, so we've been trying to figure out what to serve tomorrow! Thanks for the suggestions. Hugs,
