Peace for Paper Players #224
30 November 2014
Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
Hope you are all having a great Thanksgiving weekend.
It's my pleasure to host the Paper Players challenge this week for you and I have a tic-tac-toe!
As we are getting closer and closer to Christmas, I decided I would go with a Christmas card and I couldn't decide which direction in the tic-tac-toe to follow, so I went with a couple :-) Tree, embossing and glitter and star, die-cut and glitter.
I started off with a whisper white rectangle die cut with my Lil Inker Stitched Rectangle and taped it to my craft pad so that I could use some Ranger distress inks and my blender. I really wanted to create a soft late sunset sky with purples and blues.
Once I had the sky ready, I pulled out my falling stars stencil from Simon Says Stamp and used some Perfect Pearls with water and sprayed over the stencil. This gave me some soft stars, but I needed to amp it up just a little. I cleaned off my stencil and put it back over the sky and opened up my modeling paste and added some three dimensional stars and set it aside to dry.
Once it was dry, I was ready to put my card together. I used some Stampin' Up! silver glitter paper and my Memory Box trees die cut to create the tree line for the bottom of my focal point. I adhered this to the sky with some dimensionals and all that was left to do was to adhere the focal layer to my card base and stamp my sentiment.
Peace.... it just seemed to be the perfect sentiment for this little scene :-)
I hope you will play along with us this week, before you do thought, check out the fabulous cards from the design team:
On a personal note:
After we braved the crowds on Black Friday, Lou and I kept it very low key today. In fact, I managed to avoid the shops altogether and spend some quality time with some paint, inks and paper. I made a card and got 75% finished on an art journal page. It felt really good to just switch off and craft in peace and quiet. :-)
Today was glorious. The sun was shining and the temps got into the low 30s. I went outside onto the porch this afternoon to take photographs of my cards and it felt warm enough to sit out there with a cup of coffee and soak up the sun! It's amazing how warm 30 can feel after the last few really cold days :-)
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
