Beauty of the Season for As you See It
Cards for a Cause 2014 update and candy winners

Thanks for bee-ing you - Paper Players

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

This is going to be another short post.  It's almost midnight and I am nowhere near caught up with anything that I had to do today - or, in fact, this entire week!

It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a challenge that is near and dear to my heart:

Now... I am always happy to complete a CAS challenge, especially when I need thank you cards. :-)

I pulled out my hexagon SU die and die-cut myself a stencil.  I adhered it to a piece of Very Vanilla card-stock and used my sponges and inks to create a honey-comb.  I had to keep moving the stencil around in order to get the coverage that I needed, but managed to create a space that was blank behind the majority of my sentiment.

I then opened up My Digital Studio to create my sentiment.  I printed it out onto heavy weight vellum and then die-cut it with a Memory Box tag.

Once I had all of that, I realized that I needed the most important part of this card.... a BEE!!!!  I opened up my browser and did a search.  Low and bee-hold (sorry, couldn't resist it!) I found exactly what I was looking for - and, low and bee-hold (yeah,  I know.. I still can't help myself!) it was free.  You can check out this awesome collection of bees right here.  The bees where slightly whimsical and just perfect for my card.   Once again, I opened up My Digital Studio, imported the bees and then printed one out.  I colored it with markers and highlighted the wings  with a Wink of Stella silver marker and a clear marker for odd stripes on the body.

I adhered the vellum tag - and the bee - and was all set to go.  Here's my card:

I really wanted an ombre type effect on the stamping, so started with a darker color on one side and ended up with a much lighter look on the other.  Of course, I had to pull out my Lil Inker Rectangle Dies.  I really cannot get enough of them :-)

Once again the design team have created some amazing projects for your inspiration.  Don't forget to check them out - and play along with us this week.

 On a personal note:

All of the cards for the Cards for a Cause card drive are packed up, wrapped up and are ready to go to UPS tomorrow.  I'll be sharing with you the final totals, the names of the amazing people who participated - and the winners of the Cards for a Cause blog candy tomorrow.

Life has been crazy busy these last two weeks... well, not life - work!  I used to be the team lead for a team of six.  Right now, I am the team lead for a team of 1.  ME!  This has all happened over the last month, and it has put a tremendous amount of pressure on me - and on the system.  This has meant that I have had almost no time to craft, or even spend time in my craft room.   I really miss it.  I miss the relaxation.  I miss the time just spent crafting and switching off.  I miss the time spending time just thinking about what I will do with inks and papers.  Heck, I just miss all of it!  However, I don't think it's going to change much over the next couple of weeks.

I did manage to get a couple of photographs of what is visiting us - including this guy.  However, it was almost impossible to get a decent shot of him.  You will have to belive me when I tell you that it was a pheasant!   He spent a few hours eating the seeds on the grasses that we had planted... which, of course, made me very happy!  Sorry, I couldn't get a better photo.

These guys have been visiting us every day, however, one of them decided it was stoooopid to be hanging around pecking with all of the others under the feeder, and that it was much more expedient to jump on top of the feeder:

Oh... and the lines on the photo - no you aren't seeing things - I had to take the photos from behind the screens as it was much too cold - and much too snowy - to go out on the deck.   It really feels as though it was just a couple of months ago that we were looking at snow on the ground.  In fact, as I write this post - it's snowing again!

I'll be back tomorrow with the Cards for a Cause post - I promise :-)  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

Jaydee dear:

Such a lovely card! I have neve worked with vellum . . . I'll give it a try. It's unbelievable that just a few days ago we were seeing sunny pictures and I was so surprised to see snow today.

Keep warm and cozy. Will look forward to tomorrow's results.

Summer has arrived here.

Love from not too far Peru.

This is just adorable, Jaydee. I love the repeated bee theme, and the bit of silver glimmer on the bee's wings is the perfect touch. Eek, you have so much snow already! So not ready for that!
