Season's Greetings for Paper Players #220

You're Perfect for Addicted to CAS

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

It's the fabulous Vicki's turn to host our Addicted to CAS Challenge this week and she has a great code word for us.

As it's a new month, we also have a new guest designer - the very talented Linda from Creeping Along. Pop along to her website and check out her fabulous cards.   Her vellum card for our last challenge is a showstopper!

We hope you will play along with us this week as we have more fabulous free digis from our sponsor Whimsy Stamps:

Now... on to my card.  I needed an anniversary card for Lou and this challenge was the inspiration I needed.  I die cut a normal tag and then remembered.... Lou doesn't think that ribbon or twine or anything that could possibly be tied into any form of bow is appropriate for a masculine card.  Now, I can't say I agree with him but, as this card was intended for him.... I thought I should honor his request :-)  That left me with a little bit of a challenge as to what I did with my usual tag..... so, I decided to go with a flag banner tag instead and put it onto the card horizontally.  This kind of tag doesn't need a bow and, in the end, was perfect... if you will excuse the pun! for my stamped images.

The Simon Says Stamp September card kit was a book themed kit and I really wanted to use one of the great sentiments in the set.  I stamped all of the books and shelf individually and then used my marker to create a stitched effect around the focal image.

I used some of the DSP contained in the SSS card kit and added one piece of text DSP from Stampin' Up.  The kit also came with these great wooden elements and I thought they were exactly what I needed to finish the card.

Here's my anniversary card for my darling hubby who, in my eyes, is perfect :-)

You're perfect

As we were cruising on our anniversary I ended up giving him this card on the ship.  He totally approved of it and loved everything about it - especially the fact that it didn't have any bows on it :-)

As it was our anniversary, I thought I would share a few photos with you.   This is a fairly old shot.... I mean, even though we waited several years before we got married - we have been together for almost 20 years.

Here's a photo taken just before we started living together - way back in 1995.

I also wanted to share a couple of photographs of our wedding.   We had an early evening wedding with just 14 guests in a medieaval chapel on the grounds of the hotel that we were staying in just outside of Verona Italy.   It was a gorgeous little chapel that was lit with candles and fall flower arrangements.  It was a beautiful and intimate ceremony with some of our closest friends.  We met up in Venice for a few days before our wedding and it was glorious.  We then travelled up to Verona and spent a couple of days before the wedding and, of course, the night of our wedding.

In fact, when the Clooney's got married in Venice a couple of weeks ago and Pammie saw the photographs of everyone arriving via Motoscafo she sent me a text that said.... "seriously.  anyone who is anyone, did that over a decade ago.  That's so passe!"  She was joking, of course.... but it sure made me smile and took my mind back to that amazing time.  Venice is a fabulous city, but Verona is quieter and much more Italian... in that there are less tourists.

Our photographer was bad.... I mean... really bad... and we ended up with less than a handful of photos that could be used.  For example... I LOVE this shot of the two of us exiting the chapel.  However, the photographer managed to cut off half of my face!

Even though I am not all there in the photograph... mind you... some would say I wasn't all there at any time :-)   I do love this shot and epitomises what a fun time we had.  I remember entering the church to the haunting sounds of the harpist and we exited listening to Celine Dion and Andrea Boccelli singing "The Prayer".  If you haven't listened to it - or read the words - you can do that here and you can find the lyrics here.  We specifically chose this track because 1) we were in Italy and it seemed  appropriate to have a bi-lingual song, 2) because I'm crazy about Andrea Bocelli and 3) - and most importantly - because the lyrics are so beautiful.  I remember exiting the church to the sounds of them singing so harmoniously and seeing the setting sun as we went through the doors.  It was beautiful.

Lou and I managed to sneak in a little kiss whilst our guests were getting snacks before dinner.

The next morning we, and several of our guests went back to Venice for a couple more days and then we went our separate ways.  Lou and I honeymooned in Italy starting in Asolo and finishing in Florence.  It really was a truly memorable couple of weeks and we were so grateful to our friends for making the trip - and making our wedding what it was!

Unlike our wedding, Lou and I spent this anniversary not with 14 people - but more than 2000!  No, we didn't invite them all - that's the number that the ship carries :-)  The night before our anniversary was a formal night and it gave us the excuse to get dressed up and the ever-present photography team captured a shot of us.

We might be much older... but we are still happy and we thoroughly enjoyed spending 10 days away, just the two of us (and the 2000 uninvited guests! :-) sailing from New York City to Quebec and there is still no-one on earth that I would rather spend my time with.   Except for Pam and John and Russ and Rach that is :-)

So... there you have it... the story behind this card :-)

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

Jaydee:

Happy anniversary!! . . . from your messages and the way you talk about Lou I know how much both of you are in love, but reading today's message . . . I think I was short about the sentiments that join both of you . . . may God grant both of you many more years to celebrate and enjoy your love.
