Hi Everyone. Happy Monday.
Very quick post for you tonight, but I wanted to share a card I made based on the Freshly Made Sketches sketch this week. They really do deliver some great sketches, but it's very rare that I get to play along and... when I do, I generally am much too late for the link up!
Here's the sketch this week:
I had this idea in my head to create an inset focal point and I knew that one of the stamps from the new Moon Lake set would work beautifully. Have I told you this? I am TOTALLY in love with this set and my blog readers who have been with me for a while will know exactly why. I love the little bird and I love the candadian goose!
I had this idea in my head.... but I realized it didn't quite fit if I had the card vertical. So, I had to turn it into a horizontal card - it was the only way I could get the whole image to fit and look right!
I stamped the image onto card stock and colored metallic and normal colored pencils. I love the fact that you can use anything for these images: watercolor pencils, inks, markers, copics.... they are all perfect for coloring!
Once I had colored the image, I used my Lil Inkers Stitched circles to cut out a whole in the front of the card. I then used another circle to cut around the image. As I wanted the image to pop just a little above the card base, I cut another circle from Vanilla Coasterboard to layer under the image.
The only thing left to do was to stamp the sentiment onto a piece of vellum and lay it over the circle at the front. I added a couple of enamel dots just to anchor the sentiment - and to hide the glue behind the vellum :-)
Here's my card:
Can you see how the water has a little shimmer? Let me see if I can find a better shot of that for you:
Isn't that pretty? I really do love the Wink of Stella markers... they are pretty pricey, but I do love the shimmer they give.
Here's a shot of the inside of the card:
You can see that it is raised just a little from the card base. I was really pleased with the end result! :-)
I hope that you will pop along to Freshly Made Sketches and check the fabulous design team and submission cards. There is so much great inspiration for you.
On a personal note:
I'm off to cook dinner... it's pretty late and I haven't even started yet! I am also off to look through a new book that has arrived on my doorstep..... Defeat into Victory: Battling Japain in Burman and India, 1942-1945 ... and the reason that I'm reading this book is a subject for another blog post!
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Oh... and Colleen... good to hear from you. I was just about to start worrying about you!
Hugs
Jaydee
