Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday. I hope you are all staying warm and out of the snow storm blanketing much of the North East. :-)
I saw this great sketch challenge across at As You See It and this fabulous inspiration from Showcase your Style
When I saw the sketch and those fabulous balloons from the photo, I realized it would be perfect for an idea I had gotten from a post on Jennifer McGuire's blog for using dies to create a graduated color pattern. I used the rainbow thought, but did it using white cutouts that I color blended into the rainbow colors and paired it with a very old sentiment that I very rarely use and finished it off with a couple of matching sequins.
Here's my card:
I know it's pretty difficult to see, but I did go over the rainbow with my Wink of Stella glitter pen it adds just a little shimmer and looks really pretty in real life.
The design team across at As You See it and Showcase Your Style have created some fabulous cards as inspiration and I know they would love it if you decided to play along :-)
On a personal note:
Not much snow in our neck of the woods and the temps continue to push the needle above the mid-30s. The chickadee can still be heard singing his "see-saw" spring mating song and, even though I know it is still January and no where near Spring, I have enjoyed the slightly warmer temperatures these past few days :-)
Mind you, the one great thing about snow is that you can see what has been visiting! We woke to a small snowfall on our frontporch and there had obviously been lots of activity around the Christmas tree..... at least 3 different animals/birds had visited.
From these footsteps we could discern that little mice were living in the Father Christmas so, when we brought in all of the Christmas decorations this past weekend, we left out Father Christmas as we didn't want to bring the mice into the garage and disturb them. So, they are peacefully curled up inside the nest they have made inside the foam core of Father Christmas and they will be left there until the warmer weather arrives... yeah... I know... what can I tell you.. only we would do that... but you know how I feel.... when you chose to live in the woodlands/wetlands, you really should learn to live with the wildlife that lived there first :-)
I'll be back tomorrow with another card for you. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.
Hugs
Jaydee
Card recipe:
- Inks: Ranger Distress Inks. Memento Black for sentiment
- Card stock: #110 white - Recollections
- Tools: Lil Inker Stitched Circles
I love those little stitched circles and you coloured them so perfectly for the rainbow! The sentiment is perfect! I can just imagine those little mice all curled up in Father Christmas! It was so nice of you to let them stay cosy for the winter! Thanks for joining us at As You See It Challenges this week!
