A Happy Thing for Paper Players #232

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

I hope you area all having a great weekend.

It's the fabulously talented Joanne's turn to host her first Paper Players challenge this week and she has a challenge that is right up my alley :-)  A clean and simple challenge with a theme:

My regular blog readers will know that birds.... and clean and simple... are a challenge that I couldn't resist!  I decided to use some of my new SU goodies and was excited to ink up the kingfisher (?) from the new SAB set - A Happy Thing.   I paired that with some DSP from the new SU Occasions Catalog - Birthday Bash.  I love the colors - and the patterns - from this DSP and let the colors of the DSP dictate what the colors on the bird would be (I still think this is a kingfisher?

Here's my card:
A Happy Thing

I colored the bird with some of my new FREE SU Blendabilities.  They were perfect for coloring this image.  The sentiment was stamped onto Bermuda Bay card stock from one of my new favorite sets - Crazy for You.  I love the simple sentiment with all of the details on the DSP.

We hope that you will play along with us this week but, before you do, don't forget to check out the fabulous inspiration from our design team:

On a personal note:

Today was FREEEZING.... well, technically, it was way below freezing - around 30 with windchill.  The temps have been relatively mild these past few weeks that it really hit us when we went outside.  But... it certainly was better than our friends on the East Coast.  A colleague of mine is about to get her 7th foot of snow in the last couple of weeks.  I actually cannot fathom that.  7 feet of snow in just a couple of weeks and then, they are going to get with unseasonably really low temperatures, too.

We shopped as quickly as we could this morning and then rushed home to the warmth of our house and I managed to spend a little time in my craft room.  I didn't get a lot accomplished whilst I was down there, but it was cozy and relatively warm and.... really... anytime spent in my craft room is good time :-)

I listened to WQXR classical radio whilst I was down in my craft room.  This is my usual routine but there was one thing different today.  The last week I have been wearing a Fitbit Surge and was amazed to find that the radio - and my crafting - lowered my heart rate to a very relaxing 62 beats a minute.  Which, I might add, is better than when I am asleep.   I always said that the combo of crafting and classical music is my waking meditation time, but I had never had physiological proof of it before. :-)

I'll be back again tomorrow with my Valentine's Day card... yes.... I know... a little late - but I needed to show you my Paper Players card tonight :-)  Oh.... and as it is Valentine's Day - I will also have a little blog candy on offer.  My own Valentine's Day pressie to all of you.  So, don't forget to check back tomorrow.

In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
