Be Mine Valentine for PP231

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a rocking color challenge for us.

I knew that it was about time I created a Valentine's card for Lou... so, Lou, if you are reading this... stop reading and move on :-)

Calypso Coral is one of my least favorite - ever - SU colors.  I don't know why I don't like it, but I just don't.  However, it does work really well with the Real Red and Black.  The red seems to lift it a little and the black grounds it...  I hope that makes sense!

I decided to use a couple of new items, including this branch die from Simon Says Stamp.  It has the branch die and also either hearts or parcels and, of course, I had to choose the hearts for this card!  I cut the hearts from Calypso Coral and Real Red card stock and adhered them over the branch.

I need to make them feel a little more special, so I covered the hearts with Wink of Stella clear glitter and then added some Crystal Effects over the top of that.    For the sentiment, I used a rub-on from the Simon Says Stamp February card kit.   I mounted the front panel onto Basic Black card stock.

Here's my card:

The glitter pen and Crystal Effects didn't seem quite enough... so I took a few Basic Rhinestones to the part of the die that has the bows for the hearts.

I used another rub on for the inside:

And, as per my 2015 resolutions... I finished the envelope, too!  I used a piece of paper from the SSS February card kit - it was a really good match for the Calypso Coral.

Well, there you have it... I do hope you will check out the inspiration cards from the other members of the design team.  I can promise you there are some amazing cards for you to be inspired by.

On a personal note:

I did get to spend a little time in my crafting room today and listened to Verdi's Macbeth on WQXR.  Oh... how wonderful it was.   Listening to classical music is my favorite thing to do whilst I am crafting.  I have very varied tastes in music - actually, you could say I have very eclectic taste in music, however, when I am crafting, classical is my go to.  It was a recording that had been done during a live performance in New York in October last year and had the amazing Anna Netrebko as Lady Macbeth.  Her voice is as rich as molten chocolate over ice-cream.  Gorgeous.  Anyway, listening to that inspired me to spend a little more time in my craft room and I made two more cards to share with you.

Talking about sharing with you.... I got an email from Colleen B and the title was... this is what 2 feet of snow look like.   I did a double take, because, as you all know, Colleen lives in Texas and I couldn't imagine 2 feet of snow in Texas.... Anyway...here's the photo she sent me.   I totally and utterly laughed out loud!

Snow

Seriously.... one of the best snowman parts I've ever seen :-)  Thanks for sharing, Colleen.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card for you.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
Jaydee
