Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday.
This is a very quick post tonight... but I wanted to share a masculine Valentine's card with you tonight - as a counterpoint to my feminine Valentine's card from this post.
Now... what is the antithesis of pink and feminine... well blue and not :-)
I used items from the Simon Says Stamp February card kit. I love this card kit and I've only used part of it!
As this was a masculine card, I wanted to make sure that I kept the lines clean without any ribbon or other accoutrement cos, if I use any of those things, Lou tells me that it isn't a masculine card :-)
As part of my resolutions for this year, I am really trying to make sure that I finish the inside of my cards and make use of the items that I have in my stash that I don't use enough - including the fabulous envelope liner die from Stampin' Up! I really do think they finish off the card... and can't imagine why I haven't made more use of it!
Here's my card:
I used a piece of sticky-backed canvas that was included in my kit and added some of the rub-ons to the top of it. As I didn't want to adhere it directly to the mat layer, I cut out a backing for it from SU Vanilla Coaster Board. This gave it some stability and I was able to add some fun foam behind the two layers and lift it off the mat layer.
I love the piece of script DSP that came with the kit. It has "love" statements, but nothing that takes away from the masculine feel of the card :-)
How about a look at the inside?
I dug around in my DSP stack and found a piece of DSP from a very old SSS card kit that fit perfectly and I used that with my envelope die and it was a perfect match:
On a personal note:
We had 3 inches of snow yesterday and the world looks fresh and clean again! We have been spared all the major storms that have been crossing the US, but it was really good to get a little to make our surroundings feel as though we really are in winter!
I'll be back on Friday with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
