A Happy Thing for Paper Players #232

Thank you for Addicted to CAS

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

It's the fabulous Harriet's turn to host our Addicted to CAS Challenge this week and she has such a versatile code word for us.

Now... there are so many ways you can go with this.... and I was really tempted to look for a Venetian Mask because I could create something really dramatic.  However, I couldn't find what I wanted, so I decided to go with a more literal interpretation and create a masked area for my stamping.

Before I get to my card, I wanted to remind you of two things.... as always, we have a great sponsor prize for our winner:

$20 GIFT VOUCHER

Secondly, as it's the start of a new month, which means we are happy to introduce you to our wonderful Guest Designer for February.  Welcome Ellen Parker (In a World of Craft).  I hope you check out her fabulous cards and read her inspiring story on how she discovered her CAS style!

Now on to my card. :-)  I really wanted to create a tag card - without the bulk of a traditional tag.  So, I cut out a tag from adhesive paper and adhered it to my card base with the negative area exposed.

Once I had the idea of the masked "tag" area, I had to work out what was going to be inside of the "tag" and knew that I really wanted to create a floral theme and began by creating the grassy and sky areas.  Once I had blended those two areas, I was ready to stamp the florals.

I really had such fun creating this card and love the green shades transitioning to the blue sky.  Once the florals had been stamped, I removed the mask and finished off my card with a banner sentiment.

Here's my card:

thank you

I love the tag effect yet... there is no additional bulk from a tag and that it will easily go through the post :-)

I do hope you will play along with Harriet's challenge this week, we would love to see what you create.

On a personal note:

I got home last night after three days in upstate New York where there was more snow on the ground than we had in Minnesota.  It certainly did look pretty in the area that I visited.  the hotel is in a very wooded area and it was really, really pretty with the bare trees and the deep snow :-)  It's rare these days that I am the one traveling and Lou is the one staying home.   8 years ago I changed my job, purely because I was on the road every single week.  5-6 nights every day away from home... and I realized, how little I miss that :-)  It was nice to be able to walk away from all of the responsibilities I deal with every day..... but I missed being home with MY bath, MY bed, MY pillow - and MY cats :-)  So, it was wonderful when I came home last night and soaked in MY bath.

When I came out of the bathroom, ALL the cats were sitting outside the door waiting for me.  Oh, yes!  I was home :-)

Consequently, I have spent no time in my craft room, but hope to spend some quality time in my craft space this weekend.

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight

Hugs

Jaydee
