Black, White and Gold for Addicted to CAS Challenge # 62
Flowers on My Mind for Simon Says Stamp and Sunday Stamps

Blooming Garden for Paper Players #242

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us:

I loved the oval with the banners and immediately knew the stamp set I would use.  It also gave me the opportunity to pull out some retiring DSP as well as some of the vellum from the SAB catalog.  However, it all began with my new favorite floral stamp from Penny Black. I've used this set several times over the last couple of weeks and am still inspired by it :-)

I started by die cutting my oval and the off-set stamping my poppies, which were colored with Copic Markers.  I then die cut three flag banners and set them all against a Soft Sky card base.

Here's my take on the sketch:

Blooming Garden

The flowers were stamped onto X-press it White card stock - perfect to use with Copic Markers... it really handles the markers beautifully.  Once I was happy with the flowers - which took quite a while I have to tell you :-)...... I then used two blue Copic Markers B000 and B0000 and colored the background, which is a great fit for the Soft Sky card base.   Those layers were then placed onto a Baja Breeze base.

I love this sketch as it is so different for me and know that I will be using it again!   I hope that you will be inspired to play along with us this week and, if you are looking for some amazing inspiration, check out the creations of our design team

On a personal note:

Oh... it was so... so.. so.. glorious today.  It was in the 50s and sunny.  I swear you can sit on a chair and watch the leaves sprouting outside.

We put up a couple of new bird houses today and are hoping that we can entice the Tree Swallows and Chickadees to use the new boxes.   We also put out a bluebird house and bought another one and convinced our neighbors to put it on their lot :-)   A week ago there were two pairs of blue birds, two pairs of swallows, a pair of chickadees and a pair of house sparrows fighting for a single box.   Of course, the house sparrows were winning and we knew that we had to do something about that.

That afternoon we went out to buy bluebird only boxes, but... sadly... it was half a day too late, as they had moved on when we got back.  We are hoping that they will come back in a couple of months when they are ready to roost again.

When we put up the swallow house this afternoon, it was only a couple of minutes before there were two pairs of swallows checking out the box.   The same thing with the chickadees....so... we really are hoping that we can provide them with a little help in the nesting department :-)

I'm hoping to get some time in my craft room tomorrow... I really am itching to make some more cards, especially as I have to finish my Cards for a Cause for Splitcoaststampers as there are only a couple more days left in the month.   I can't believe that we are almost at the end of April.  ALREADY!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
