Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday.
I went looking for some challenges to play along with this weekend and found three that all came together into a single card. It's very rare that I manage to combine two challenges, never mind three.
I used the sketch from sundaystamps, the technique challenge from happy little stampers and the colors and inspiration from just-add-ink.
Once I saw these challenges together I knew that I could use my Ranger Wildflower Stencil, some Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste and have some fun - and - it would be a one layer card!
I began by taping my card base onto my craft mat and then creating a border with tape. The tape would ensure that I had a crisp, clean white border around the card, giving the illusion of more than a single layer. I then took my ranger distress inks and my mini blender and created the blue background. Once that was dry, I was ready to create my flowers
I lay my stencil onto my card base and taped over the flowers - leaving just the stems exposed. I then colored some white embossing paste with green ink and added that over the stems. I then took my heat gun and set the embossing paste so that it was nice and dry. I then mixed more embossing paste with yellow and orange inks to create the colored paste for my flowers.
I replaced the cleaned stencil over the stems and added the bright yellow/orange paste to my flowers and added some distress glitter whilst they were still wet. You can't see it in the photo, but there is just a little glimmery shimmer on the flowers!
All that was left to do was to add the sentiment. I stamped the Hello from the Hero Arts Stamps and Cuts set (stamp with matching die) and everything was complete.
Here's my card:
I was so happy with the finished product. It has texture and depth and is still a one layer card. It was also very relaxing creating it :-)
On a personal note:
Nooooooo... where did the warm temps of spring go? It's been freezing again and grey and rainy.. and it's going to be like that all week. Mind you, at least the grass is turning green and we have some green appearing in the garden. So, even though it doesn't feel as though spring is on her way... she MUST BE! I know Colleen will be enjoying temps in the 70s and 80s... but for those of us up North... it's going to be a little while before we can expect those sustained temps!
We also started reading our deck and screened in porch for spring. The chairs are out.... but.... covered... I can't wait until all of that brown turns green!
I thought I'd share with you a close-up of the pillows on the couch... and the view from the window of our family room...... I love this view!
and... I am in love with the pillows! I'm so pleased I bought them last year. The colors are just perfect.
I'll be back with another card tomorrow, in the meantime warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

So pretty Jaydee! The blue background is fantastic with those pretty yellow flowers. I can't believe this is a one layer card! It has depth, dimension, and texture...very hard to capture and you've done it beautifully!
The pillows are so pretty, love them. So calm and serene with the wetlands behind. Who needs artwork, you've got it outside your window!

Oh, Jaydee; your card is stunning and I can see that bit of shimmer on your card; even more so when you click on it to enlarge it..............nice added touch.
You are so right about me enjoying our temperatures along with the much needed rain that we have been having. It's time to mow our yard once again for the 4th time so far.
Remember my rose and daylily bed? Cleaned it out and laying mulch in the walkways which makes it look so much better, plus it will keep the weeds down. I have roses blooming as well as irises. We do have good chance of showers coming in this afternoon so will be going out at sunrise and get done as much as I can before the showers move in and hope to get the yard mowed as well. So much to do and so little time.
Be patient as you will receive your Spring / Summer temperatures as well. About the time our temperatures reach the triple digits of which I don't look forward too.
Have a wonderful and enjoyable evening
