What a difference two weeks make
Hello There - for Paper Players #246

From the herd for Addicted to CAS #64

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.  I hope you are all enjoying your start this this Memorial Day long weekend!

It's the fabulous Joanna's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has a code word that is right up my alley.

Before I get to my card, I also wanted to remind you that we have a design team call going on at Addicted to CAS.

If you play along with us this week, you have the chance to win a fabulous free set (value E12.50) from our wonderful sponsor:

We also have our very talented Guest Designer - Monika playing along with us this week. I do hope you will check out her blog!

As many of my regular blog reader's know, I make cards every month for the splitcoaststampers Cards for a Cause card drive and I created this card with these card drives in mind.

As the image is pretty busy, I wanted something clean and not too complicated for the base of the card.

I began by stamping the From the Herd image onto X-press It card stock.  My favourite card stock to use with Copic markers.  It makes  blending so much easier!  I then very quickly coloured it with Copic markers - nothing fancy, no fancy colour transitions, no fancy shading.... just quick colours for the animals and a quick zap of B0000 for the sky and YG11 for the grassy areas.   I then cut around the image with my Lil Inkers stitched rectangle dies and mounted it onto a piece of Vanilla #110 weight card stock that I had stamped using my Woodgrain background Stamp and some Crumb Cake ink.

Here's my card:

I do hope that you will play along with us this week - and don't forget the design team call!!!

On a  personal note:

I know we've only just come back from two week's vacation.... but I am so glad that it is a long weekend this week.  It will give Lou and I a chance to catch up on things and just enjoy the new view from our home.  Every day more and more seems to be coming into leaf and hopefully it won't be too long before we start to see some flowers popping up.

We hadn't seen Georgina (our groundhog) and were worried that she had gotten washed out of her home again, but I was out and about on the deck and caught her wandering around!  She waited for me to stop looking at her and then dashed down one of her burrows out of sight!

It's wonderful to see the grosbeak and his wife.  I never get tired of seeing the flash of black and white as he flies past the deck:

These guys are eating us out of house and home... and nothing could make me happier!

And then, of course, the turkey's are still visiting us regularly.

We were thrilled to see that our River Birches had come into leaf when we got home.  They are looking magnificent and we think they have even grown some since last year when we put them in!

They really do give us some fabulous privacy from our neighbours and, even more importantly, lots of additional places for the birds to hang out and get a little cover from predators.  The chickadee's love them and are nesting close by.

Well, I will be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.  If you are traveling, travel safe!

hugs

Absolutely adorable card, Jaydee! I love all the animals huddled together and hamming it up for the camera...so funny! Loving your woodgrain background, too! Fabulous card!

Bonnie

What a fun card, Jaydee! Love that stamp! Love your nature pictures too. We had a male grosbeak stop by on his way north. It was a rare spotting. Haven't seen any orioles or turkeys though.

Beth Wilhelm

I just love to see all your nature pictures, especially the birds. I really miss the country! Thanks so much for the great pictures & cards you share! Beth

Jaydee,
Your posts are always so inspiring -- I look forward to each and every one. Not just to see the wonderful cards you make, but also for the photos of the little piece of heaven you reside on. You -- and the way you honor, respect and cherish God's gifts -- lift me up. It's people like you that help restore my faith in humanity, particularly when times are tough. So thank you, Jaydee, for always sharing and inspiring and encouraging.

What a fun stamping of all the animals - nicely colored! and Love the photos of your own 'wild' animals! We too, love feeding our birds - and we have a woody family living under our shed.

Terri

This set is just so perfect for a group card - and the colouring is lovely! Hope you went someplace marvellous for your vacation!

Your card makes me chuckle. The crowd reminds me of our caravan on a farm in Wales. We has sheep and cows looking in on us. It was fun. Great card! X
