Hello There - for Paper Players #246

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Ann-Marie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a sketch for us:

It's very rare that I use square elements on a card and, even though A-M said we could use any shape, I decided to push myself and go with a square.

With apologies to Barbra Streisand.... it seem's I'm in a flower state of mind right now!  Mind you, I'm always in a New York State of Mind, too!  Love the place!  But... I digress... back to my card!

I have a new stamp from Penny Black that I decided would work really well for the sketch and that was my starting point.  I stamped the image onto X-press IT paper so that I could use my Copic markers to colour it.  It didn't take me long to colour and die cut it with my Simon Says Stamp stitched squares.

I found some old pieces of DSP from a SSS card kit and used that as the base and the horizontal layer.  I then mounted these onto Tangelo Twist card stock and then popped my flowers onto fun foam.

Here's my card:

Of course, I had to give my flowers a little shimmer and shine......

On a  personal note:

Lou and I managed to sit outside under our deck for a couple of hours yesterday, it was absolutely glorious.  The cats love it out there, too.  They can watch all the comings and goings and even chase their nemesis - the chipmunk.  He is very aware that he is very safe on the other side of the netting and I swear I can hear him sitting up on his hind legs going "nah.nah.nah.nah.nah.. you can't catch me!"

Our cattail feeders continue to attract the birds

Goldfinches (1 of 1)

Fred and Ethel visit us regularly, too.

And I will finish out the post tonight with a sign I saw in a shop window on our recent travels.  It made me LOL as it is so true in our house!!!!  Lou laughed, too!

Man sign (1 of 1)

Well, who could argue with that?

I'll be back with my Memorial Day post tomorrow.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Those flowers are colored so beautifully! I love the shimmer too!

KarrenJ

Beautiful card! I love those flowers and they are so beautifully colored. I had to laugh at that sign too!

Your card is so bright and cheerful. I love your coloring of the flowers. Thanks for sharing all the beautiful birds and animals you have.

Beautiful flowers Jaydee and such a gorgeous stamp!! Can I ask if you prefer the Simon Says stitched dies or the Lil' Inkers stitched dies? I love the look and have decided it's time to get a set of my own. ; )

Love your nature photos including the post previously. I never tire of seeing a Grosbeak at my feeder, but it's rare. Maybe he was traveling through to your neck of the woods? It's been a few weeks now.

Oh your sign picture is so funny! Have a great rest of your long weekend!!

Thank you for this lovely card. I really like the colors and the beautiful flowers! You did a wonderful job.
I enjoyed your "all to true" sign and all the nature pictures. Thanks for taking your time to share with us.
May God continue to bless you and Lou..scratch the fur-babies heads.

This floral image and your coloring are just gorgeous, Jaydee! You really did a great job capturing the sparkle, too. Love those beautiful yellow birds. What are they?

Shannon Jaramillo

Wow!! So pretty, Jaydee! I love the soft orange tones in the background, they make your coloring pop! And I LOVE how you used the sentiment in place of the details...man, why didn't I think of that! lol And as for your sign...well, that's true in my household as well :) I wonder if that would work with me and my grocery shopping...something to ponder!!

Debbie Mageed

Love that flower! What a beautiful job coloring and then adding the sparkles was a great touch.

Andrea W

Absolutely beautiful! I love the colors and shimmer detail on the flowers. You make wonderful cards. The last photo of the sign cracked me up, it just took my hubby two months to hang my new blind in the front window. I'll count myself lucky it didn't take six months.

Mmmm... Kelly...that's a good question. I really don't have a preference one way or the other. I bought the rectangles and squares from Lil Inkers because they had them first, but I added the circles and stitched shapes onto a recent SSS order. I'd say the quality is about the same and the prices are pretty similar. I just looked on SSS and the rectangles (the ones I use the most) are out of stock on SSS, but area available at Lil Inker. I think the biggest difference I found with the rectangles from Lil Inkers is that they don't have the feature of being stitched on both the positive and negative space. The SSS ones are wider so they leave the stitching on both the positive and negative. Hope that makes sense!

Jaydee, this card is gorgeous! The colors are so bright and happy and you've embraced the square with aplomb! So glad to see a close-up of the flowers in their glittered glory--beautiful!

Joanne James

Gorgeous card Jaydee - beautiful colouring of the poppies and I love the added sparkle - it makes the whole card shimmer. As for the sign - I so need to get me one of these and hang it prominently so that my husband can see it!!!
