English Garden and Sheltering Tree for As You See It

Hi Everyone.  Happy Wednesday.

I have a very quick post for you tonight.   I saw this great sketch across at As You See It and I realised that it would be perfect for showcasing some DSP.

Here's the sketch:

When I saw the English Garden DSP in the catalog I was really drawn to the colours.   When I got the DSP and opened the pack, I was a little worried as some of the sheets had really large patterns and I convinced myself that I wouldn't be able to use it.  However, because the papers all mix and match so well, I realised that I could use even the larger patterns and still make them work if you let the pattern be the showpiece of the card.  That's exactly what this sketch allowed me to do.

Here's my card:

The hardest part of this sketch was working out what colour the card base should be.  Vanilla and White were way too bright.  None of the Blues quiet cut it.  I tried Crumb Cake.. that didn't work.... it was only then that I remembered we had a new neutral and decided to give it a try.  Voila!  Tip Top Taupe to the rescue.  It was perfect and... an added benefit of this little exercise, was that I realised I love the colour!

I found some old ribbon in Sahara Sand and Baja Breeze that worked perfectly with the colours.   I do hope you will pop along to As You See It and play along with their new challenge later this week.... You will miss this week's challenge.  How do I know?  Cos, I am going to get this card loaded with about an hour to spare before the challenge closes!

On a personal note:

A couple of quick photos for you.

Deer at the feeder (1 of 1)

We haven't seen any baby deer yet.  The doe's seem to be keeping them very well hidden.  But we still get a couple of deer that will come wandering past and grace us with their presence!

We still haven't seen a sighting of the Pileated baby either!

Pileated (1 of 1)-2

But I still get a thrill every time I see the parents :-)

I'll be back tomorrow with another project.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Like the softness, color and beauty of your card.
Like me; when in doubt about the larger patterns in paper, use as backing / vocal point of the card. Adding a small sentiment and ribbon is all that is needed which makes for a great card. ( great minds think alike. :}
I so enjoy seeing your photos.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
Have a wonderful weekend

Such fabulous pattern mixing! And I love that the new in-color Tip Top Taupe was your go to for the card base. Thanks so much for playing with us at the As You See It Challenge! Hope you will be back soon!

Gorgeous card, Jaydee! I love the two-toned bow and the touch of a brush-stroke on your sentiment. Isn't that DSP beautiful? Thanks for sharing your talents with us at As You See It Challenges this week.

This is a beautiful card! I just "found" your blog yesterday from the SCS SU! demo forum, and I love your cards and especially the nature info and pictures. I'll be checking back often. :)

This card is stunning! Absolutely beautiful.
