Happy & Smile for Curtain Call

Happy Patterns Decorative Masks & Hello You for CasethisSketch and AAA sketches

Hi Everyone.  Happy Tuesday.

It's not often I get to combine challenges, but I saw this theme challenge from AAA cards and this sketch from casethissketch

I also used the colours from the colourthrowdown challenge, but unfortunately was too late to enter that challenge!

I love using embossing pastes and find that I don't do it enough, so this challenge was a great excuse to bring out my embossing pastes.

Luckily, I had a new stencil from the Stampin' Up! Happy Patterns Decorative Masks and knew that I could use a couple of the different masks for the sketch.

To create the stripes with the embossing paste I mixed some white embossing paste with Strawberry Slush and Smoky Slate inks to get the pink and grey.  You can't really see it on the card, but the die-cut hello is cored with a little distress glitter to add a little shimmer and shine!

Here's my card:

I wanted to bring the pink from the background and the best way to do that was to add a little butterfly and a little more bling!

Of course, I had to decorate the envelope, too!

I hope you will check out the design team and submission cards and I know the teams would love it if you played along with their challenges, too!

On a personal note:

OK.. Officially.... this is my least favourite part of the year.  It's in the high 80s and muggy.  Altogether my least favourite weather.  Most people who think of Minnesota only think of the cold winters, they don't realise that we can get some hot and really muggy weather.  We always sleep with the windows open - even in the middle of winter - but these hot, muggy days are away to uncomfortable for me to sleep, so it means we have to run the air-conditioning and I hate doing that!  So, I'm looking forward to a little drop in humidity :-)

I did get out to see what I could find in our garden though....

Flowers are starting to appear - like this pretty little yellow Oxalis.  It's so pretty and dainty.

and... I am pleased to say... we have Blue Birds nesting... int eh swallow box.... and the swallows are nesting in the Blue Bird Box!!!  Go figure :-) !!

I was thrilled to capture this shot:

How awesome is that?

I'll be back tomorrow with another project.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

Great use of paste, love the colours. And how pretty is that bluebird! Thanks for sharing at AAA Cards.

I agree with Jane on the wonderful use of the paste to use on your new stencil. Beautiful addition of the cute butterfly. It all blends well together.
I have the paste but yet to make a card. I need to find and dig out my metal stencils I guess and give it a try.
Such a great photo / pose of your bluebird. I guess first come, first serve when it comes to the nesting houses.

Hey, Jaydee. I was watching our local news here this morning and they where showing the northern lights that appeared in the sky in your state on Monday evening as well as last night.
Was wondering if you happened to see. What a Beautiful site . Don't think the pictures on news channel does justice as compared seeing in person tho but still a pretty site.
Thanks for sharing such beautiful nature photos with us. I so enjoy seeing them
Have a wonderful day along with a great evening

Beth
