Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's a double billing day today, so two cards for a single visit :-)
I was thrilled to be invited to be the guest designer across at Sunday Stamps for June. A huge thank you to Holly for inviting me to play along with this very talented group of crafters!
The challenge at Sunday Stamps is a color challenge and what a gorgeous collection of colors:
I love the soft, subtle colors and the pop of blue really lifts the neutrals. I thought about these colors for a while and realized that they would work for a gender neutral card and I decided to take a slightly different approach by using some word bubbles colored with Copic markers.
I began with an Early Espresso base and then added a piece of SU Very Vanilla Neutrals DSP. I used a Tim Holtz stencil and added some Pool Party ink over the Very Vanilla layer. I liked the additional, yet subtle, interest it added to the base.
I then took the balsa wood word bubbles and colored them to match the challenge colors. I adhered these to the Very Vanilla layer with Matte Multi-Medium. I also added some SU neutral Candy Dots to the base layer and the card was ready.
Here's my take on the challenge:
I really love the colors together and this combo will be added to my favorites collection. I do hope you will join us across at SundayStamps this week. We would love to see your take on the challenge. The design team have created some fabulous cards for your inspiration. Check them out and then come and play along!
Now... on to my second card for tonight. It's the wonderful Joanne's turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme challenge for us.
Isn't that embossing folder fun? It's especially effective with the Silver Foil paper. Lou approved of this card :-)
The design team have created a fabulous collection of masculine cards for your inspiration. I do hope you will check out the cards and then play along with us.
On a personal note:
As I type this blog post the wind is howling, the lightening is lighting up the wetland and the rain is pouring. AGAIN! It was quiet the thunderstorm. Luckily the storm has passed and all I can hear are the frogs ringing out their mating calls. I love this time of the year in the wetland. It's much, much quieter than last year though. I can hear very few spring peepers and they are normally defeaning at this time of the year. I'm hoping they are just a little late!
The wetland is certainly looking green!
It's good to see some water in it, too!
I got to spend some quallity time in my craft room today with my SU goodies from the new catalog. I did a "3 day" order because I wanted to make sure it got to me before the weekend and it arrived yesterday! I spent some time unpacking it, labeling it, sorting out my stamps and everything was ready to play today.
I have to tell you that I am absolutely in love with Mint Macaron. It's a gorgeous color and, of course, I LOVE Watercolor Wings. So you will definitely be seeing cards made with those two items this week.
I'll be back tomorrow, in the meantime warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jayde

Two lovely cards Jaydee! Such pretty colours on the first one; as for the second one, that embossing folder is a wowza and in the foil it is the perfect backdrop for your red sports car (any other colour and it wouldn't really be a sports car, right?!) A fantastic masculine card and perfect for my challenge this week!

Hi Jaydee! Love both of your cards! The colors blend so smoothly on your first card and the second one is so much fun. My nine year old son would go nuts over it, he's such a race car fan!! The silver embossed folder is perfect and the raised car looks like it's about to go super fast. Looks like we'll get your rain today. Sunshine forecast tomorrow, so maybe I'll get a card made! Enjoy your Monday!

Both cards are fabulous and are great masculine cards. The balsa wood speech bubbles add such a fun texture and look so cool! And the embossed foil is a stunning look.

Both Great looking cards. I really like the color combination on the top card as well as the layout.
Being a big Nascar racing fan here; I absolutely love how you done the 2nd card. Makes for a great masculine card for the big or little guys.
Hope you and Lou have a glorious and wonderful day.
Nice that you are getting some rain but I just hope you don't receive as much as we had received down here during the month of May. Where I live and according to our rain gauge, we had received over 16 inches of rain and there was only 4 days when we did not receive any rains......Not enough to register anyway
