Hi Everyone. Happy Monday.
Tonight's card was made for three different challenges. The theme from AAA , the sketch from casethissketch and the technique from justusgirls.
Here are the badges:
The theme of woodland animals was one I absolutely couldn't resist, especially as I had a stamp set from the 2015/2016 catalog that was on the very top of my wishlist. The image I used might be of a fox, but it sure reminds me of my cat Bailey!
I began by diecutting a square and stamping the fox image in Memento Black ink. I then colored the image with my Copic markers. I also used my Copic markers to color the background directly behind the fox and above the grass. I left the area below the grass as plain white.
I die-cut the card base creating just an embossed outline to give the stitched frame. I then mounted the 4 die-cut stitched squares before mounting the focal image.
The image layer was popped above the squares on fun foam. I really find this a great way to give a little dimension knowing that it will survive going through the post :-) So... three layers of die-cuts and all stitched for continuity.
Here's my card:
I really had fun coloring the image and, for reference, here's a photo of my Bailey!
I hope you will check out the three challenge sites - there are some fabulous cards for your inspiration.
On a personal note:
It was great to spend some time in my craft room yesterday. I really do find it immensely relaxing. Oh... and it's really nice and cool down there, so it was a great escape from the 90 degrees with high humidity outside :-)
The grasses have grown dramatically over the last couple of weeks. You can see how tall the grass is in our little wetland when you look at this photo of the deer:
"Our" Orioles are still around.... and are obviously feeding babies. We haven't seen the young yet but are hoping that we will see them really soon. I caught this shot of the Oriole in the River Birch yesterday:
Isn't he gorgeous? I love watching the streaks of bright orange as they fly through the trees and I love to hear them when they alight on the feeder. They normally start to do that around 5.30 in the morning. A great alarm clock!
I'll be back with another project tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

What a cute image on a really beautiful card along with the gorgeous coloring.
Enjoyed your photos. Thanks for sharing them. That deer is gorgeous standing in that tall grass.
That oriole is so pretty sitting up there in the tree. Can we say; 'Purdy bird.'
Have a wonderful and enjoyable evening

Jealous....that's all I can say. JEALOUS of your beautiful oriole! Well, and your card is sweet, too!

I love that fox and the way you colored her. We have a resident red fox, which we don't see very often, but when we do, oh, she is so beautiful! I don't know that it is female; we just called it "she." Sometimes, she comes out to keep my husband company in the plant nursery. She let me sit and watch her eat a plate of scrambled that I set out for her. Never had a problem with her...
I so love your blog! Nature and stampin'...what could be better? Stay well, my friend. Nancy B

Deer, orioles? Perfect day! I have fond memories of the pair of orioles who nested in the BIG cottonwood at the foot of our garden when I was growing up on the farm. I never could figure out how mama could manage to sit on the eggs in that sweet hanging basket of a nest. She must have been all doubled up.

Oh how I just love that new stamp set from Stampin' Up! And I am so impressed with what you did with that fox.. He looks so aware and ready for anything. Love the color and the squares in the background are so delightfully understated. And the stitched borders...well, now I am just jealous. I love this everything about this card. Thank you so much for sharing your creation!!

Gorgeous card, Jaydee! I just got this stamp set too but haven't inked it up yet so thank you for the inspiration. And what inspiration your foxy kitty is, too! Best of all, I was so excited to see the picture of your Oriole. I saw one at the preserve the other day for the first time ever and wasn't sure what it was. The flash of bright orange is so striking. I didn't know Orioles even existed on Long Island. I thought that was what it was, but now I know for sure so thank you! Hugs :) Sandy
