Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday.
I have a very quick post for you tonight. I wanted to share a clean and simple card I made for the As You See It sketch challenge this week.
Here's the sketch - and I think it's a really versatile one!
I love the placement of the banners and knew that I wanted to use some of the DSP in the SimonSaysStamp July card kit. I paired the DSP with the sentiment from the June card kit!
Here's my take on the sketch:
I chose to highlight the red from the DSPs as I thought it was a nice pop against the blue base. I thought it was a good mascline card. Of course, I had to decorate the envelope, too. I used several stamps from the set contained in the "Sail Away" kit.
I'm tempted to make a feminine version using this sketch. Mmmm... I think that might be on the cards for tomorrow :-)
On a personal note:
We are still in love with the cattail metal bird feeders. So many of the birds really love them, too. Sometimes we can see 4 - 5 different species at once feeding on them. this little Downy Woodpecker is a regular visitor.
One of the plants that have come up in the prairie this year is the Swamp Milkweed. It has a really pretty cluster of pink flowers, but took a long time to flower and, in fact, only one or two of them have actually fully flowered. I will have to go back tomorrow and take a photo of the flowers.
As it was growing it was all leaf and I had no idea what it was. However, Georgina, the Groundhog, loved it. It was really interesting to watch her eat the leaves from the plants. She would approach a plant, eat one or two leaves from different parts of the stem and then move on to the next plant. A perfect example of budgeting your resources!
Here's what it looks like before it has fully developed:
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you that need a little lift tonight. If you are traveling - be safe!
Hugs
Jaydee

Hi Jaydee--I haven't had a lot of spare time to comment but am still following you and appreciate all the wonderful cards, sketches and bits of your life that you share with us. The milkweed pic today just begged me to take the time... Did you know that this is the only food which Monarch caterpillars eat, and because milkweed is not growing as freely as it once was that the Monarch butterfly population is dropping. The kiddles and I have made the point of watching the life cycle for the past 10 years and it's always magical to see that little tiny egg turn into a beautiful butterfly. So keep enjoying those green leaves and pretty pink flowers and if you look closely you might even see a few more friends...
Love and Hugs,
Cherie
