Lola's Fairy for As You See It - and Card Drive Update and winners
20 October 2015
Hi Everyone,
Happy Tuesday. I hope you are all having a great week so far.
Tonight I wanted to share with you a card I made for a very special little girl. You can read Lola's story on the as you see it challenge site this week. If you have a blog or photosharing site and want to make a card to help send this special little girl some virtual love - I know she would really appreciate it. So, I highly encourage you to play along with the As You See It challenge this week.
I spent several hours on Friday night and Saturday morning getting the cards ready to post to our worthy recipients of our 2015 Cards for a Cause Card drive and thought to myself, "man, I really needed a fairy image". And then thought nothing more of it. On Saturday afternoon, when I had finally sent off the first box, I decided to do a little last minute crafting and went looking at my favorite challenge sites.
That's when I saw this request. Well, it took me about 4 minutes to search for a fairy digital image on the internet and I paid my $3 and downloaded this adorable image.
I went with as much bling and glitter and pink as I possibly could. Sadly, as I was taking this photograph on Saturday night as the sun was setting, you can't see as much of the glitter and dazzle and bling as you an when you have the card in hand. I made 4 of these cards - and they are in the next batch to be sent to Cards for Hospitalized Kids.
Here's Lola's Fairy:
You can't see her glittery wings and her glittery freckles, but I promise you they are there. I put glittery highlights in her hair. I glittered the bottom of her slippers, and I gave her shimmery stripes on her top and tights. I had such fun coloring this image and all the time I colored, I was sending positive thoughts to Lola and her family.
Here's a closeup:
I made another card for Lola - also blingy and sparkly and pink - but a totally different theme and I can't wait to share that with you tomorrow.
On a personal note:
I cannot tell you how beautiful, fun, playful the cards are that were submitted for our card drive this year. I really had so many - WOW moments and can't wait to share some of the cards with you.
Do you want to know how many cards are being sent to our two charities this year? Yeah... maybe you do! We have collected over 600 cards for distribution to our two deserving charities: Card Care Connection and Cards for Hospitalized Kids. Thank you to all of you who contributed your cards. Once again, a special thank you to:
- Jeanne
- Cam
- Marsha
- Stef
- Rosemarie, Cary & Christine
- Brenda
- Dale
- Tracy
As usual, I put the names of the contributors into a box - all balled up - and had my faithful helper - Bilbo Baggins - choose the pieces of paper that he wanted to play with.
So, what does that actually mean?
Well.....
#1 gets a $150 spending spree - courtesty of moi
#2 gets a $100 spending spree - courtesy of moi
#3 gets a $50 spending spree - courtesy of moi
The other contributors will be receiving a little thank you from me for the time, dedication and love they put into their cards.
Do you want to know who Bilbo chose? I am sure you do. The winners get to choose what they want from the new FUN STAMPERS JOURNEY annual or holiday catalog.
Here are the winners chosen by my very handsome Bilbo Baggins:
- $150 shopping spree (to share) - Rosemarie, Cary and Christine
- $100 shopping spree - Dale
- $50 shopping spree - Marsha
Ladies, I will be sending each of you a separate email giving you the details of how to let me know what you would like to have arrive in your stamping space. :-)
Thank you all so much. Your support of my card drives every year - and many of you have provided cards for multiple years - leaves me humbled by your thoughtfulness.
I'll be back tomorrow with another card for Lola. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
