Be Strong for Paper Players #272
22 November 2015
Hi Everyone, happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great sketch challenge for us.
As I am still making cards to add to the next stash of cards for Card Care Connection and Cards for Hospitalized Kids, when I saw the "Be Strong" stamp set from Fun Stampers Journey, I realized it would be perfect to use on a card for my next submission to Card Care connection.
I used some Fun Stampers Journey Basic Pastel Papers for the patterned DSP and colored the stamp with Stampin' Up! Blackberry Bliss ink. I just thought that it really complemented the Bubble Gum pink DSP.
Here's my card:
Inking the lion image left a negative space for me to color the cat with pink Copics to complement the Bubble Gum pink DSP. I mounted the DSP panel on fun foam and then placed that onto a Vanilla cards tock from Recollections.
I stamped the lion and fussy cut around it and mounted the image onto a vanilla tag and stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss. The tag was mounted on fun foam and then adhered to the DSP - but not before I had adhered the sentiment!
I really love this simple stamp and sentiment. I think it speaks a thousand words - and think it is very powerful. I also love that you could use it for any health issue - not just cancer.
The design team have created some amazing cards for your inspiration. You can check them out at thepaperplayers.blogspot.com and we hope that you will come and play along with us this week.
On a personal note:
I got some much needed relaxation time in my craft space today. It has been a very long week and I really needed to just switch off and turn my mind off and just create. It really is such a therapeutic process for me! Especially as I get to look out on the wetland and watch what is going on!
I thought you might like to see what has been visting our feeders - these photos were taken just a couple of seconds apart, which shows you how active the feeder station is :-)
Yep... the one downy exchange places with a Nuthatch. They are amazing how they all give way to each other and seem to live quite harmoniously!
I'll be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
Card recipe:
- Stamp: Be Strong - Fun Stampers Journey
- DSP: Basic Pastels - Fun Stampers Journey
- Card stock: Vanilla - Recollections #120.
You are right, the colors do compliment each other well. I love the sentiment, and it is so perfect for any illness. I'm learning just what that sentiment really means with 2 of my dear friends just diagnosed with inoperable cancer. So many ups and downs when one is ill, this card would be perfect for a time when one needs that lift! Great card for a great cause, Jaydee!

So much to love about this card, Jaydee! And you are right - it is so powerful and impactful - and the image speaks VOLUMES! Your card really struck a chord with me. You are a special one Jaydee! I just realized my time is coming to an end soon as a team member with you at The Paper Players. At first I feared the commitment, now I am afraid of how much I am going to miss it! Hugs to you for all you do and all you have been to me!

What a cool image, Jaydee! As every cat owner knows, every cat thinks they are a lion! As for cards for hospitalized kids, I can't think of a better cause. I admire how you are always thinking of others when you create. Hugs :)

What a great card Jaydee - the cat combo and bold patterned paper make this a real stand-out card and I love the sentiment you paired them with; so appropriate for your cause. A wonderfully uplifting cause!
