Sweet Chirp for Paper Players #269

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme for us:

Now, when I first saw this challenge, I immediately went to a card with leaves but.... after a little while thinking, had an idea to use the colors of fall on my card instead of a more literal translation.

I started off by inking up a fabulous stamp called Sweet Chirp.  It's such a sweet image and I fell in love with it immediately I saw it.  Anyway, I digress :-)   I inked up the leaves with two different shades of green and the birds with orange and yellow for the body and a thouch of black for the beak.

I used my Zig watercolor pens as they allow me to get coverage into fairly small spaces.  Once the ink had been applied to all the areas of the stamp, I spritzed a small amount of water from my Mini Mister onto the stamp.   I then applied the stamp to a piece of Recollections #110 vanilla card stock.

The first two images I made were just too wet and that caused the details of the birds and leaves to become very blurred - and that wasn't the look I was going for on this card, so I tried it a third time - with less water - and it worked just the way I wanted it to.

Here's my card:

Sweet Chirp

I finished off the card by cutting out the focal point with my Stitched Rectangle die, mounting it onto a piece of fun foam to give it dimension, but stay looking good going through the post :-) and mounted the panel onto a vanilla base.

The design team have some amazing inspiration for you again this week.  I hope you will check out their blogs and then play along with Claire's challenge this week.

On a personal note:

Well, all the cards from our 2015 Card Drive have gone to their charities.  I posted one last box on Saturday with cards that I had made over the last couple of weeks.  We sent off over 600 cards this year!

After a VERY long week, I managed to spend some time in my craft room yesterday.  I turned on wqxr.org - listened to some wonderful classical music and got out my Simon Says Stamp card kit from October.   I loved the card kit, but had made so few cards with it.   So, spurred on by a conversation I had with the awesome Sandy I decided that I was going to dedicate time - my whole crafting time yesterday - to making cards with one particular card kit.   It's amazing how much more creative I am when I limit the amount of goodies I can use!

The kits are such good value.... but Sandy and I were lamenting that we just don't set aside enough time to really utilize that value.   So... I put my dislike of pink aside (yes... the kit has a LOT of pink) - and just went with the flow.

I ended up making 10 cards yesterday and had such fun being pushed out of my comfort zone to use as many of the elements as I could from the kit - including the cards from My Minds Eye that came with the kit.  All I need know is some sunshine - please let there be some sunshine after days of dull, grey and wet :-) - and then I can share the cards that I made with you.   I created these cards as the start of my new stash for our next card drive.

I'll be back tomorrow with some more projects for you.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

Hugs
Jaydee

This is simply stunning! I love the way that your image turned out, perfect CAS fall card! :)

Lisa

This is simply delightful Jaydee, love those pretty little birds!!

Jaydee this card is so pretty - the subtle colour variations and blends are lovely; I never manage this when I try to mist anything - it's always a wet and splodgy mess! Looking forward to seeing your kit cards too - glad it's not just me that buys the kits then never makes the time to put them together! I've started diarising with a friend and we get together to make ours - seems to be working for us as we are slowly getting there!

LeAnne

Oh my....birds, orange, watercoloring, CAS, lots of white space, stitched dies, this has to be a combination of all my loves together in one beautiful card!

Nance Leedy

What a lovely card, Jaydee. So soft and ethereal. Love the way you've colored this sweet image. Such a clever take on the challenge, my friend!

Sandy M

Jaydee what a beautiful card. These lovely images are so delicate and sweet, and thank you for sharing how you colored them. And oh I am quite excited and anticipating seeing (seriously?) 10 cards you made from the SSS kit?! I'm impressed and haven't even seen them yet!

Jodi McKinney

I love all the beautiful dreamy details on this clean and simple card Jaydee! You are so good at that! The birds are so beautiful in the two toned misty colors! Exquisite!

Oh, how tweet is that :} Just beautiful Sweet little birds tweeting their own little tune
Have an enjoyable evening
Have more rain moving in come Wed and into the weekend. Week before we received almost 12 inches. This last weekend we received 4. Pretty soon we may have to invest in a canoe; starting out small unless it continues to rain then may have to go to a large boat. :}

Love the technique you used on the images..the birds look so soft and sweet! I adore CAS, so this immediately caught my eye!Have a great day Jaydee!

jaydee, this is just lovely! Those precious little birds made me smile! All that white space is lovely! I have such a difficult time with that concept, but you do it so well! You certainly made my theme shine! This card is so "YOU"! I buy the kits, too and have them stacked up. I appreciate the inspiration to just get them out and only work with those items. Thanks for the fabulous idea, My Friend! Hoping the sun shines on you today. It is raining in GA! XXX
