Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us:
I decided to use up some old DSP from an old Simon Says Stamp card kit and pair it with a die cut butterfly I got from somewhere.... it's been sitting in a little packet of goodies for so long that I really cannot remember where I got it! It was white, so I colored it with some Sweet Pear ink and then stamp it with a polka dot stamp in the same ink.
When I started to assemble the background, the Pear layer just felt too plain and bare, so I ran it through my Big Shot with an embossing folder from Fun Stampers Journey called Petals Wall. That gave me the interest and texture I was looking for.
Here's my card:
I hope you will play along with us this week and if you are looking for some inspiration, the design team have some fabulous creations for you:
On a personal note:
Well... it has been raining most of the day here. You know, that English rain... soft, gentle and never-ending! Mind you, if the weather warms up a little in the next couple of days, the rain will help everything turn green.... all the brown and no leaves is getting boring :-)
I have to share this photograph with you. The Pileated decided that the little finch feeder at the front of the house must have something tasty in it..... and decided to try it out. This is a BIG bird on a little feeder and he certainly doesn't look comfortable!
He stayed for a few minutes, ate some seed and then flew off. Now... if you have never been lucky enough to see a Pileated... they are amazing birds - very prehistoric - and they have a wing span of nearly 30 inches! they are pretty amazing birds in flight as their wings are white underneath with black outer feathers - and you can see just how big they are. I never get tired of seeing them or watching them.
As my birthday week is not quite over... I have another blog candy opportunity for you! What's the blog candy on offer? Well, I think you are going to like this...... it's a brand new tim Holtz London rubber stamp set:
What do you have to do to win the blog candy? Not much! :-) Just leave me a message on this post and tell me what you most like about London..... whether it's the fashion, a favorite show, a place you have visited, a novel...... or, if you haven't been to London... what would you think your favorite thing would be.
What do I like about London? Well, it's tough to narrow it down to one thing, but I am going to say the street flower sellers in Spring. I still remember spending two weeks in London many years ago in early Spring. The sun was out... the days were getting longer and the street sellers carts were full of tulips and daffodils and other spring flowers. Going past them always made me smile and put a spring in my step!
I can't wait to hear what you have to say about London.
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, Happy Easter and warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
This is beautiful, Jaydee! I love the colors, especially the pear card base, and even more so with the texture of the embossing. What an amazing bird, it must have been so cool to see him in real life. You're so lucky you got such a great picture. You must have your camera ready at all times!

Jaydee, this is just beautiful! Certainly a breath of Spring when I saw your card! Love the embossed background and the gorgeous shades! The yellow is just so calming!
I have never been to England except through pictures and books but, I long to see the castles, the changing of the guard and attend Wimbledon! Bucket List items for me!

I love all of your photos of the wildlife!! Especially the birds!! You also are a talented card mamer! I read your blog all the time!

Loved your card today. The green is great with the embossed texture and the butterfly over the colorful strips of paper. I've been to England but not to London - would love to go and just to see anything that is British. My father's family came from England and I have done some research on some of the area that was their home. Love your wildlife photos!! Thanks much.

Jaydee, I think this is one of the prettiest cards you've ever created! That embossing folder is a perfect background for your pretty spring colors, and that butterfly looks like it could spring right into flight! AND of course, I am jealous of your pileated...to get that close is amazing! Wonderful blog candy too...woo hoo, who wouldn't want that?!

Beautiful card, love the color. Pleated woodpeckers are so interesting to watch, another favorite bird. If I could go to London I would love to see the beautiful architecture, changing of the guard and watch the changing of the guard...oh my, just so much to dream about.

When our daughters were 5 and 9, we were camping and visiting as many places in Europe as we could. While hiking in the Swiss alps, we saw an English family, and their little girl wore the cutest sweater with a St. Bernard appliqued on it, with a wooden barrel button around its neck. We admired it, and asked the mom where she'd gotten it. "Marks and Spencer". I recognized the name, and when we went to London, we immediately found the store on Oxford St. And yes, they still had the sweaters, with both adorable plaid pleated skirts to match and corduroy pants! A small thing, but we all loved those outfits for years! London has everything, for sure, but this was a wonderful shopping memory! Now I want to go back and ride the Eye--seeing so much of London on a slow ferris wheel sounds great!

I love the old cathedrals, museums, shopping and getting around on the Tube. Yes, it's difficult to choose one thing. Great city I have visited several times. Love your cute card today with the reminder to use older items from our stash. Great picture of the Pilated.

Happy Easter to you and Lou as well.
Beautiful card and love the embossed background as well as that butterfly.
Never been to London but for me, I would like to see the changing of the guard; Big Ben as well as the Kew Gardens and then take A Thames river cruise, and Oh, 1 more thing; the London Zoo
