Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a Tic Tac Toe for us:
For my card, I decided to go horizontally - straight across the top. Yellow. Birthday. Twine. Which was the perfect combo to help
AAA cards celebrate their 2nd anniversary. It's so important for us crafter's to help celebrate the challenge sites as they provide us with so much inspiration. Well, they do me, anyway! So Happy Birthday AAA cards!
I saw a video recently where Jennifer Maguire had used her Wink of Stella Glitter pen as a waterbrush with her Zig Markers. I thought it was a genius idea and decided that I would use that as my inspiration for tonight's card. It's a gorgeous finished product, but the vellum does get slightly wavy.... but it only detracts from it when you are trying to take a photo.
I began by stamping the image onto vellum and heat setting it with white embossing powder. I then used my zig markers and my Wink of Stella pen to color in the flowers. I folded the vellum over the top of a white cardstock base and tied twine across the top. I love the pop of black with the black sentiment.
Once again... my fuzzy finger print on my camera lens has made the sentiment look as though it is smudged.... I really do need to remember to clean the lens.
Here's my card:
I wish you could see how wonderfully shimmery the flowers are.... but I just couldn't pick that up with the camera. It really is a soft and pretty technique.
I hope you will play along with us this week. If you are looking for some inspiration - you have to look no further than our wonderful design team cards:
On a personal note:
Oh..... I am so glad that we have a long weekend. I can't believe that its almost June and this is our first official long weekend. The weather isn't exactly playing ball... as it has been coolish and wet. So wet that our wetland is starting to smell a little dank :-) But, we have managed to avoid any bad weather. I hope you are all OK from the recent storms.
I thought you might like to see a photograph of our beautiful Oriole male:

Isn't he a beautiful boy? I am thrilled - so thrilled - that we have managed to keep them hanging around. In our old house, they would visit us for a couple of days and then move on. Here, they eat us out of house and home - and we are so glad they do!
I'll be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Wonderful card I love the yellow flowers. My camera had that same problem at some stage, it is always hard to remember to clean the lens before the photos.

What a gorgeous card. The soft yellow and white embossing made beautiful flowers. Love the picture of your oriole

Such a stunning card. Love the way you "painted" the flowers. Truly a work of art. And speaking of a work of art, your oriole certainly is. How fortunate you are to have him in your sanctuary to enjoy.

Soooooo pretty. What a gift it would be to get this in the mail!

Love, love this card!! I want to make one. And the bird ... beautiful. I have a mourning dove that made a very poor nest on the breaker box. Has now laid an egg, but she hasn't come back. I'm sad because I don't see this ending well. Nature - it's amazing.

Your card today is truly beautiful Jaydee - I love those blended flowers on the vellum and imagine the sparkle adds a wonderful lustre to your card. Love the pop of black from the twine and sentiment too. A great take on my challenge this week!

Your card is just lovely...so soft and pretty, I'll bet it even looks better IRL with all the shimmer! But the oriole...what can I say but that I am so jealous! I have had a scruffy-looking male hanging around last week, but couldn't get any good pictures. You are so blessed to have them hanging around; I love seeing your photos of them!

Stunning Jaydee! It's so soft and simply gorgeous. I wish that wink showed up better on photos too, as it gives such a fun shimmer to cards. Your Oriole pic sure turned out awesome too..what a beauty!
Have a great day!

Jaydee this is so beautiful! The stem of flowers is so delicate, and I love the embossing on vellum. I have a brand new set of Zig markers (that I won) sitting on my desk untouched, but you have totally inspired me to use them!
