Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday.
I do have a card for you tonight, but wanted to share some nature shots with you - and I know that's the reason why some of you come to my blog - so this is for you!
I stood on the deck for about 5 minutes - trying to hide from the birds. Some of them were OK with my presence, and I wanted to share the photos that I captured of them.
The hummers are one of my favorite birds. They are TINY but absolutely not fazed by anything. They are incredibly territorial and will take on anything way bigger than them. I managed to catch this "in flight" shot of the rubythroated male:
Aren't they amazing? I still remember seeing my first ever hummer - it was way back in the VERY early 90s and we were in Jamaica. I honestly made the tour guide stop the bus when I saw a hummer at a flower. I was STUNNED. I had never seen such a tiny little bird moving so fast. Truly amazing. I still get that feeling all those years later.
How could I NOT share this photo with you. These guys are the characters of our garden. Yeah... we have the beautiful cardinals and the social butterflies aka Blue Jays - but these little woodpeckers are the true characters of our garden and I loved this shot I captured!
So, what do you think he is saying? Huh! Where's the jelly? Hey... it's about time you sanded the top of your deck railing? Whatever he was saying.. he was right on both counts!
So.... wanted to see a card? How about another shaker card? I do seem to be rather addicted to those these days.
This card is really so much prettier in person than I could capture in a photo. Regardless... I'm sending hugs to all of you that need one tonight :-)
I'll be back tomorrow with a sneak peak of the grab bag that I have on offer as part of our Paper Players 300th celebratory challenge. Remember... you are in the running for winning one of 10 grab bags if you play along with our challenge this week. Want to see what our challenge is this week? Check out the Paper Players challenge this week.
Hugs to all of you
Jaydee

Your card making talent is matched by your photography skills. Splendiferous!!!! I have never seen a hummingbird in real life but your photos make it seem like I have. Hope the hand is healing - and for good this time!

Beautiful shaker card with such vibrant colors.
Great nature photos Jaydee. Love them cute little hummers as they are so fun to watch. They must be careful tho with BlueJays around, as the Jays will go after and eat them cute hummers which is why the hummers will build their nests under a hawks nest knowing that the hawks won't bother them and are protected from the Blue Jays getting them. Amazing how the hummers know the difference between a friendly bird and an enemy.
What the expression Mr. Woody woodpecker has. Like he's thinking; 'You looking at me kid.'
Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos
Have a wonderful week.
