Harvest Thanks for Addicted to CAS

Hi Everyone.  Happy Friday.  Hope you are all ready for the long weekend.  I know I am!

It's the fabulously talented Sweet Kobylkin's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has a great challenge code word for us.

Considering the leaves are turning on the trees and the days are MUCH cooler than they were even just a week ago, it certainly feels as though Harvest season is definitely here.

I had originally thought about harvest as food but realized I didn't have an image that worked so I had to rethink my card.  I realized that the other thing about the harvest season are the changing of the leaves and the warm colors, so decided to use that as the inspiration for my card.

I began by die-cutting the leaves and then coating them with verdigris embossing powder.  I left that aside and set about coloring my background with distress inks.  I then laid the die cut, embossed image directly over the top and added my sentiment.

Here's my card:

I hope you will join our challenge this week.  If you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than our amazing design team - and our guest designer this week the very talented. Wendy Johnson

Another good reason to join us.... we have our fabulous sponsor who is offering up a prize of a $12 gift card for our winner.

On a personal note:

I decided that I really needed some time off from work.  twice this year I have tried to take vacation and ended up working through both of them. At the end of the day today I powered down my laptop.  Packed it up.  Put it in a drawer.  I don't even want to look at it or think about it for the next 9 days!  Once again we are going through a major round of resource actions.  For some of the groups it is the 3rd time this year and - once again - if affects thousands of my colleagues.  Maybe not the best time to take vacation - but I really need some time away from it to relax and recharge.   So, I intend to get lost in my crafting room over the next few days and to spend time just looking out at the woodland and wetland and all of its wonderful inhabitants. Guaranteed to make me feel better :-)

I promise to get out and take some photographs to share with you, too.

I'm hoping to be lucky enough to catch some good photos of our resident Red-Headed Woodpeckers and their little off-spring.   I love these guys and am so glad that we have managed to give them a home this year.

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight, including my little tinkerbell.

Hugs
Jaydee
