Hi Everyone. It is my absolutely pleasure to join the very talented team at Just Us Girls as guest designer for the month of October. I was absolutely thrilled when Vicki asked me if I would join the team as GD. How could I turn that invitation down :-)
My first challenge with the team is a wonderful word challenge and I couldn't stop myself.... again..... I HAD to use watercolors for my card. I have this great new stamp from Penny Black and pulled out my Kuretake brush markers and got to work.
I began with a piece of Canson Cold Pressed watercolor paper. I wanted the texture of the cold pressed for this card. I colored the image with the markers, spritzed the stamp and then put the first layer down. Once the first layer was down, I added more layers and then took a water color paintbrush and set about adding some detail to the berries and just a little to the leaves. Once everything was dry, I added some blue watercolor around the image and stamped the sentiment.
Here;s my take on the word challenge:
I hope that you are as inspired by this challenge as I am and that you will join us and play along this week. If you are looking for some amazing inspiration, you have to look no further than the cards from the very talented
JUGS design team.
On a personal note:
We are looking forward to what we hope will be a nice weekend weather wise. We have had so much rain that the wetland is really wet and really soggy. When the deer are running through the wetland you can hear them sloshing through the standing water. I can't ever remember having this much rain so late in the year. ALL the birds have gone - well except a couple of stragglers that I haven't seen around these parts before. They are pretty secretive and I haven't managed to get a photo of them yet. I think I might go walkabout tomorrow and see if they are still around and if I can capture a couple of shots of them.
So, in the absence of anything new to show you from our little piece of paradise - I'll show you a couple of shots of our regulars :-)
The yellow-bellied has officially become a regular. They were still hanging around today:
Unlike our woodpeckers, these guys are amazingly quiet and stealthy. In fact, their tapping is even much quieter than the usual woodpeckers.
We are amazed by how much more diverse the wetland is this year, too. The reclamation is certainly starting to bear fruit. It's a heaven to so many frogs and mammals and birds.
I'll be back with my Addicted to CAS card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight - including my dearest Tinkerbell who needs an extra shot of fairy dust today.
Hugs
Jaydee
