Winter Cardinal for Case this Sketch

Hi Everyone.  Happy Tuesday.

Hope you are all having a great week so far.

I saw this great sketch across at casethissketch this week and knew that it would be a great way for me to use my new Winter Cardinal stamps.

I decided to use the cardinal as my central element and then split the sentiment above and below the cardinal.   This cardinal set is a lot of fun as it has so many layers.  You could do some really funky fun colors - almost like a rainbow lorikeet-ever seen one of those?  Not?   Then check out this link.
Or, you could go just a single layer red.  Or, maybe layers of acqua.  Or you could color it just as it should be.  Or... you can do what I did - and change things up slightly.

Now... you might be wondering why on earth I did change things up a little.   Well.... it's because I decided I needed to add a little more black to balance out the card - so MY cardinal has black wings :-)

Here's my take on the sketch:

I think this stamp and die would make a great central image for Christmas cards.  In fact, I might try that out this weekend!

On a personal note:

Well.  It's official.  Summer is over.  How do I know?  Because our little ruby-throated hummingbirds have finally flown the coup.  They were here yesterday - but gone this morning.  I presume they must have taken advantage of the strong Northerly winds to help them on their way.   So, all you bird lovers south of Minnesota - please get out your hummer feeders and prepare some nice fresh food for them.   They are really cheap - and easy - to feed.   All they need is a 1/4 cup of sugar in 1 cup of boiling water.   Stir really well and leave to cool.   That's it.   All they ask is that you refresh their food every couple of days and never, ever use dishwashing soap or bleach or anything to clean the feeder between feeds.

For those of you who come to my blog for something other than cards.... here's what's been visiting the feeders:

I love this shot.   It has the doves, the downy woodpecker and two of our visiting young male rosebreasted grossbeaks.  I swear these two really confused me when I first saw them as they look like females - but with a red breast!

Of course, I couldn't finish the post without a photo of this guy:-)

I'll be back later in the week with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight and continued extra sprinkles of fairy dust for Tinkerbell.

Hugs
