Hi Everyone. Very quick post for you tonight.
Case this sketch has another great sketch on their challenge blog this week:
Based on the sketch.... was I tempted to use my "Express Yourself" set again - it seemed a perfect fit. However, I held myself back and decided to do some watercoloring instead. I am really enjoying playing with the Penny Black Berry Kissed stamp for watercoloring - especially with my zig clear brush markers.
Here's my take on the sketch:
With this card, I really wanted to berries to pop - so added just a little strip of Pumpkin cardstock to the edge - and mounted the front panel on funfoam to remove it from the card base just a little. I futzed and putzed with the coloring until I was happy with it. Well, happy is a relative term as I have so much to learn about watercoloring. I so admire those of you who create light and airy watercolor pieces - mine still feel like Copic colored images as I try so hard to control everything. I really need to let go!
On a personal note:
I wanted to say a huge thank you to those of you who left me messages - or sent me emails - of encouragement and support in response to my Paper Players card this week. I cannot tell you how much your comments meant to me. It's because of YOU that I continue to do this blog - so please know that I really do appreciate it - a great deal. I never cease to be amazed by the amazing people that I have met on this crating journey. None of us know about our race, our sexual orientation, our religious convictions, our political affiliations, our social strata... nothing... those things don't matter to us. What matters to us - and what connects us all - is a love of crafting, of sharing, of belonging - it's wonderful to find a connection where none of the trappings that generally affect our connections. the fact that I have people from many different continents who read my blog - shows that we are more universally connected because of this hobby. I am so grateful that I found it - and that I found you all.
For those of you who come for more than just the cards :-) Here's a little something:
How wonderful are these colors?!!!
One last chance to earn blog candy on this little guy? I think I might have stumped most of you..... Colleen...... I got your email - and you were spot on... but I'm not telling anyone what this gorgeous little thing is until tomorrow. Want to take a guess for blog candy? Leave me a message or send me an email if you think you know what this gorgeous birdie is.
I'll be back with another card for you tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight - especially for you Tinkerbell.
Hugs
Jaydee

Gorgeous card, Jaydee. I think it's very light and airy. I have those markers also (I won them) and have only used them once. Thanks for inspiring me. I also love your comments about how crafting connects us all regardless of anything. Spot on.

Your watercolouring is lovey, Jaydee. The variations on the twigs and berries make them truly realistic. And I love the way you made those berries pop. I'm glad you pointed out how you achieved that.
Those autumn colours in your photo are fabulous. I'm sure that at times I'm a bit unsafe as a driver these days, as I crane my neck to take another look at the spectacular displays, especially when the sun is shining on them and they literally glow.

Jaydee; your watercolor card is stunning and perfect take of the sketch. The strip of the pumpkin really does sent off the berries; great added touch.
What a Beautiful Fall photo. The colors on them leaves are stunning. What a lovely setting that must be from your deck. Lovely Fall photo to mod podge on canvas or framed as well as the bird photo of which is one of my favorite bird photos.
Such a great photo of that ---------------
Have yourself a great day along with an enjoyable and relaxing evening.
