Halftone Hello Wild Hibiscus
04 October 2016
Hi Everyone.
Hope you are all enjoying your week.
I have a quick post and card for you tonight. I played along with the casethissketch challenge this weekend and tried the no-line coloring technique and... this time... I didn't use watercoloring - I colored with my Copic markers instead.
Here's the great sketch from casethissketch
In fact, I loved this sketch so much that I made two different cards with it... but I will share the second one with you tomorrow.
I started with a piece of Neenah Solar white card stock and stamped the flower image three times using my new altenew inks in Frosty Pink. As this is an outline image stamp, it allowed me to create ... well... the outline :-) and then color as the mood took me. :-) Once the images were down, I took my Copic markers and just went with the flow. This is VERY unusual for me and I still have a VERY long way to go before I am happy with my no-line coloring, but I won't get better at it until I practice - and I want to do that with different mediums.
I used a selection of Red Violet and Pinks from my Copic collection - plus a deep yellow for the inside of the flowers. Once the flowers were colored - and I wanted each one to be a little different - I outlined the images in B0000 - my favorite color for adding just a little outline to my images. Once the image was complete, all I needed to do was add the sentiment from my new Halftone Happy sentiment set from Altenew.
Here's my card:
I really like this stamp set - it has a great simplicity about it and isn't as fussy as some of the other stamps and requires only single stamping. Not that I am not obsessed with my multi-stamp sets from Altenew, mind you :-)
On a personal note:
HJ wanted to let you know that I got your email and your goodies will be on their way to you this weekend! I hope you enjoy playing with them and am so glad that I broke your non-winning streak :-)
I was out in the garden for about 10 minutes today - trying to take a break from my 15 hour work days.... the less said about those the better. Luckily, I can still - for a short time anyway - work from home and spending even just 10 minutes in our woodland/wetland helps to make it all worth-while.
Whilst I was out there - I managed to capture a shot of this guy. So.... because I am feeling generous - how about a little more blog candy. What do you have to do? Easy - guess what this bird is! Some of you do like playing along with my bird-guessing games. I'll take the Family name if you can't work out his particular member of the family :-)
I captured this great shot of him:
We have a whole little family of them in the woodland and they are amazing creatures. I love their markings!
Talking about our woodland - we still have a couple of flowers trying to make their stance. These blackeyed Susan's are pretty much the only thing left flowering in the garden, but they are standing proud and bring a wonderful pop of sunshine yellow to the prairie which has gone to seed:
Hopefully you enjoyed the photos:-) I'll be back tomorrow night with my other casethissketch card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight - and extra fairy dust for Tinkerbell.
Hugs
Jaydee
