Metallic Magnolia for Addicted to CAS #101 and Just Us Girls

Hi Everyone.   Happy Saturday.

It's the fabulous Barb's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has a great code word for us:

I hope you will play along with us this week, especially as we have a great prize for our winner:

Our wonderful design challenge creator, Kylie, is donating a $15 shopping spree to her wonderful shop:

We also have the AWESOME Vicki joining us as our guest designer this week.   I love her take on our ombre challenge - and I know you will, too.  I hope you will pop along to her blog and leave her a little bloogy love.

It's a little hard to see the ombre on my card - but I promise it is there.  I saw the challenge across at Just Us Girls - and realized that I would be able to combine the two challenges and create a metallic ombre effect with my metallic watercolors.

I began by slightly wetting my metallic watercolor paints from Kuretake.  Have I told you how much I LOVE these metallic watercolor paints.  Really - they are amazing!  Anyway, I took a sponge and added three different colors of the metallics - darker at the top and the lightest at the bottom.

Whilst I waited for that to dry, I stamped the Magnolia (one of my favorite new sets) from Altenew onto Neenah Solar White card stock and set about coloring it with my Copics.  Once the paint was dry on the card base, I cut 1/4" off the stenciled piece and mounted it onto Turbo Teal card stock using some foam.  I then stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Neenah and adhered it to the base.  All that was needed, was to die-cut the magnolia and attach it to the sentiment layer.

It was incredibly difficult to get a photo  of this card to show both the ombre and metallic - especially as the sun was streaming into the dining room.. so I apologize that this isn't the greatest photo:

I hope you will play along with us this week.  As always, there is some fabulous inspiration for you on our challenge blog.

On a personal note:

Well, this week has been a very busy week at work - crazier than normal - with all sorts of odd things going on and it really made me feel as though I was in the twilight zone by the end of the week.  I was exceptionally glad when I was finally able to close down my laptop on Friday and try to switch off!  It was good to be able to spend some time just trying to switch off today!

The weather is also still very weird.  On Thursday night Lou and I spent about 15 minutes sitting out on the porch at nearly 11pm.  It was so warm I was out there in bare feet.  In the middle of November.  In Minnesota.  At 11pm.  In a t-shirt with bare feet!

I also found that when my PC went belly-up a couple of weeks ago, my backup that I used to recover my Mac was only a partial back-up.  Consequently, I have lost all the photographs that I took between the end of 2014 and March 2016.  That includes all the great shots I took of our three holidays - including our cruise to the Baltics; all of the wonderful wildlife shots - including my cardinal in the snow..... so I am NOT a happy camper.   Grrrrr.... I love technology, but when it doesn't work you realize just how much we rely on it!

Guess who is still hanging around the garden?  He was here on Thursday when I captured this shot - and he was here again this morning whilst we were having breakfast!

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card and a couple more photographs.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
