Vintage Teacup for Paper Players #323
27 November 2016
Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us.
I had so many ideas for this sketch, but in the end decided to focus on a set from Altenew called Vintage Teacup. I am an avid tea drinker. Yes, I do drink coffee - but only cappuccino and - horrifyingly for the Italians - only after lunch! In the morning - tea is MY drink and my day doesn't start without a good pot of tea. I am also, admittedly, fond of a cup of tea in the afternoon with a good scone, strawberry jam and Devonshire clotted cream :-) Tea is such a classic British ceremony - it's more than just a drink. We drink tea when things are bad and we need to offer support. We drink tea when things are great and we want to celebrate... weddings, birthday's, christenings, meeting with friends.... pretty much any occasion is a good occasion for tea :-) So, when I saw this great set from Altenew, I knew it was a must for my crafting supplies.
I needed just a little more inspiration - and saw this wonderful color scheme across at Color Throwdown - and realized it was perfect for this card and worked so well with the team theme. Polka dots... just seem so perfect for tea time :-)
Isn't that such a pretty color scheme, and a wonderful change for the winter colors that are all around us right now. It made me look forward to Spring :-)
Here's my card:
I took some of my old polka dot DSP and stamped the cup image and then die-cut them. I used my craft knife to cut a slit in the first two cups and "stacked" them up inside of each other. I added the other elements - including the fabulous sentiment and the little crystal heart and then added some Pico Irresistibles in white to give the polka dots some dimension.
I hope you will join us this week and play along with us. As always, if you are looking for some inspiration - you have to look no further than our fabulous design team:
I know the fabulous design team across at Color Throwdown would also like you to play along with their challenge :-)
On a personal note:
The snow may have almost melted, but it doesn't stop me being in the throngs of Christmas decorating... still not quite finished - but steadily getting there!
Our nutcrackers are standing proud - and I love them!
Our 10' couch is now fully configured with the winter - and Christmas - cushions - and I love them against the fabulous red silk curtains. I NEVER use this many cushions - except at this time of the year. Generally, I like just a couple of cushions and let the outside shine... but in winter, it's wonderful to have everything warm and cosy.
The Angels stand proud sounding their silent charge - and I love them. They fit so perfectly in the niches and look beautiful with the curtains - they really are the same color.
I hope to finish the internal decorations on Monday - and Lou will be finishing off the outside. Then, we will be ready for the snow and the Holiday season. Except, I still need to finish Christmas cards!
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Lovely card. Are the tea cups one stamp or did you stack them? Neat idea. Love your nutcracker standing tall.

Jaydee your first paragraph sounds just like me: tea first thing in the morning, cappuccino in the afternoon when I need a little pick-me-up! Wish we were closer to share a cuppa. Love your stack of cups, and you know you are enticing me to purchase this stamp set with your recent samples. Love your nutcracker too, he's so handsome!
