Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme for us - and one that is perfect for me today as I look out of my window and watch the snow slowly fall :-)
We had 3 inches of snow overnight and it looks so beautiful outside. It truly is a winter wonderland! So, today's theme really is perfect and I hope you are inspired enough to play along with us this week.
I decided I wanted to make a floating snowflake so die-cut two from Silver Glimmer Paper and suspended them from silver thread and adhered them together. I die-cut a window out of my card front and secured the thread behind the window. I made a panel to fit inside the back of the card front to hide the thread. I stamped a sentiment in a matching color and used my snowflake stencil and some texture paste to add some snow falling from the top of my card.
Here's my card:
If you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than the fabulous creations from our design team:
On a personal note:
I realized that I had forgotten to attach some photos from one of my posts last week where I talked about the winter cushions and curtains and my angels. So, I am attaching them to this post.
As a reminder, this is how our couch looks against the window and the sage curtains. I love the look of lightness and brightness in spring/summer and want the focus to be all about the outside:-)
However, in fall/winterm when it is so cold outside, I like to make the family room cosier and that's easily achieved with the red curtains and the abundance of winter themed cushions. I add the three Christmas themed cushions just for a couple of weeks prior to Christmas and just after. Once Christmas is over, I removed them and we are left with just the red cushions for the rest of winter. the result is much warmer and much cosier. I'll try and take a daytime picture for you today - especially as it does look so pretty outside :-)
In the niches at the top of the built-in book shelves, I place the two red metal angels. They face each other. I know the owl (his name is Fotheringham-Brown - just in case you are interested) looks a little odd in the middle. BUT... there is so much sentimental value associated with "Fothers" that I can't bear to put him away for winter.... so, he is left to sit between the beautiful angels as they play their heavenly music!
Today, I will be decorating the mantle piece and making some Christmas cards. I am WAY behind on my Christmas card making! I think I might be very distracted by the view out of my window, though :-)
I'll leave you with one last photo tonight - our little harbinger's of winter! When these guys arrive from their more northerly summer homes, we know it REALLY is winter :-)
I'll be back on Tuesday with some more photographs and a card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
