Hello Peony for Paper Players # 328

Butterfly Wishes for Addicted to CAS # 103

Hi Everyone.  Happy Friday..... although you won't be reading this until Saturday :-)  I corrupted my photo editing software and had to reload it... consequently I missed uploading my AtCAS card in time for the start of the first challenge of the year.

You would think that I would NOT have missed it considering we have been on break..... but.. miss the deadline I did.   However, here I am... better late than never :-)

It's the fabulous Anja's turn to host our first challenge of 2017 and she has a great code word for us.

It's also the first challenge for our two new designers  - Ellenor Emilsson and  Bobby Hagen.  I hope you will pop along to their blogs and say a warm welcome :-)

A big thank you to Create A Smile for their generosity and continued support!  They are a supporters for this challenge - and the winner of the challenge will get a 15 Euro gift card to spend in their store.

Our first Guest Designer for 2017 is incredibly talented, and there is no doubt that you are already familiar with her CAS style. She is also the winner of Challenge # 101!   Welcome Michelle Lupton.

I needed a card for my bestie and wanted one that would go through the post pretty easily.   I started with IndigoBlu's Big Bold Butterfly stamp that was stamped onto Canson cold pressed water color paper.

I know you can't see it in the photograph, but I used my twinkling H2Os watercolors - in the teal and blue - they blended beautifully and add just a little shimmer and shine.  Once I had finished, I added a little of each color onto a stamping block, added much more water - and created little pools of color that I could use to add some splotches to the card.

I used a Simon Says Stamp sentiment set to create the "wishing you" sentiment for the front.  On the inside I used the same stamp - but in a very pale teal to create a background for the inside.  I then stamped the sentiment "didn't live so far away".  The watercolor panel is backed with some fun foam and mounted to the card base and the sentiment has some double sided tape to give it just a little lift.

Here's my card:

I hope you will join our challenge this week.  If you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than our fabulous design team.

On a personal note:

It's been warm here... well, relatively.  In the upper 30s - for the whole week.  These are temps we normally get in March - not in January.  The hot temps have caused massive amounts of very dense fog in multiple places this week - including across our wetland.  It's also been pretty dull and grey - not at all like Minnesota.  I love the winters here - especially when the skies are blue and the sun is shining.  It lulls you into a false sense of security when you look outside - you wouldn't believe it was below zero :-)

We only feed the deer a couple of times a week - but they always seem to be on the look out and see Lou coming with the food and start to meander - well... not meander... quick trot is more like it... across the wetland and stand waiting for him to put the corn on the tray.  We counted 20 of them this day!

I'll be back with my Paper Player's card tomorrow night.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
Jaydee

Your Bestie is going to LOVE this card, Jaydee...It's GORGEOUS! I love how you added soft blues and greens to this beautiful butterfly, and that you made it the star of the show! I'm loving your wavy sentiment banner, too...Fabulous take on the Code Word!

How lovely that you and your hubby feed the deer in the wintertime! I think it's wonderful that they have somewhere to go so they don't starve...they're also quite beautiful to look at, too :)
