Hi Everyone, happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color challenge for us:
YAY!!! I was so happy when I saw this challenge as I realized I could use my new favorite color combo - black, white and silver! It was also the perfect color combination to create a card to celebrate the anniversary of my besties - Pam and John. So.... you two.... we hope you have a wonderful anniversary - this one is for you!
I began with a piece of white cardstock that I covered with some silver foil that I had been keeping for a special occasion. It was the negative that was left when I hot foiled a patterned piece of cardstock through my Minc machine. The negative leaves that were left were way too beautiful to discard, so I kept them in my cupboard - and it has been there for about 6 months! I layered it over the piece of white cardstock and adhered it at the back. I then used my Fun Stampers Journey butterfly dies with some old Stampin' Up! silver metallic paper and die cut three different butterflies.
Here's my card:
Of course, I had to finish off the butterflies with some rhinestones. I was really happy with the card. I hope that you will play along with our challenge. If you are looking for inspiration you have to look no further than the creations from our fabulous design team:
On a personal note:
A gorgeous day here in Minneapolis.... nearly 30 degrees and incredibly sunny. That didn't mean that there wasn't a dreadfully cold wind, as Lou and I discovered when we were walking around the back of our woodland today. We weren't out there very long before we realized just how cold and exposed it is out in the wetland. But it was beautiful with the sun shining on the snow.
I wanted to share another photo of the pileated with you. This is the one where he decided he wasn't going to find water and settled on a piece of snow instead :-) I know... he's just a woodpecker.... but he sure makes me happy and, based on the reactions of some of my wonderful readers, he makes you happy, too!

I'll be back with something different tomorrow - an art journal page. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

This is such a gorgeous card Jaydee! That central panel is beautiful, I'm not surprised you held on to it, definitely too good to throw away! A perfect backdrop for your butterfly trio too. I'm sure your friends will love it. Cute bird photo too!

Jaydee your card is gorgeous and I am sure your friends loved it. The silver foil panel is just beautiful, wish I could see how shiny it is IRL. What a stunning pileated, I don't think we have them in NY, at least I've never seen one. Great photo.

Jaydee, thanks for a great card. I have not tried foil yet. The butterflies are perfect for it. Simple but elegant!!!
I also want to thank you for showing pictures of this wonderful bird. I remember seeing them and hearing them when we lived in Minnesota. I have only seen one since we have moved back to Iowa. They are amazing birds with such great power.

Lovely card Jaydee! The delicate leaves are so pretty with your butterflies!
Wow, what a great photo of your pileated!! I just love his red head against the frosty bowl! The winds have been extremely cold around here as well so I'm sure your wetland is even more so. My black lab cracked my birdbath basin late in the fall getting a drink and my hubby replaced it for me for Christmas. We have the heater in there now so our birds can drink. It's amazing how quickly I have to clean it though since some like to do their business in it, yuck!

This is gorgeous, Jaydee. I'll bet those silver foil leaves are stunning IRL. I have no idea how the Mint works but it sounds fascinating. This is such an elegant color combination and your besties are sure to treasure their card. We have pileateds here too but I've never seen one that close--striking!
