Be a Lighthouse for Addicted to CAS #107
18 March 2017
Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. I hope you are all having a great start to your weekend.
It's the fabulous Barb's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has a great word for us:
Now... there are SO many places you can go with this. I chose to go with a card I wanted to make for one of my team-mates. He's one of the nicest, kindest guys I know and he has an amazing family. When I need something, I know I can always rely on him to come thru and to be my sounding board when I need one. As many of you know, it's been a tough few weeks for all of us and I wanted to create a card to thank him for being such a great colleague and friend.
I saw this stamp set at Altenew and knew that it would be the perfect stamp set to create a card for him. I created a little scene - colored in the elements and then used my yellow markers to create a glow from the lighthouse... I know you can't see a lighthouse light in daylight... but I needed to do something to make the sentiment make sense.... I hope you know what I mean. All I had to do to finish the card was to add a little background DSP that I have had for EVER!
Here's my card:
Of course, I had to do a little something in the inside. I wanted to keep it clean and simple and make the sentiment really pop. The sentiment isn't from the same stamp set - but I think it works :-)
I'll be sending this to the amazing Mr D once we all go our separate ways in a couple of months and I think he will appreciate it:-)
I hope you will join us and play along this week. As usual we have an amazing prize from our sponsor for this challenge:
The winner will receive a $10 gift voucher to the store
If you are looking for some inspiration - you have to look no further than our fabulous design team. Also, check out the amazing card our guest designer - Jane - created for us. I love her touch of blue sea, sun and that amazing little beach hut. Her card is CAS perfection.
On a personal note:
Well... we thought Spring was on her way, but we were maybe a little premature. I'm still trying to get used to the fact that it is darker than normal in the morning and lighter than normal in the evening. Officially, Spring is only a couple of days away and I must admit, when it gets to this time of the year, I am SO ready to open the windows, air the cobwebs and must air out of the house and get outside in our screened in porch. I said to Lou when I woke up and looked across at the wetland this morning.... "man... I am so ready to see some GREEN!" It is brown on brown on brown right now. However, the little chickadee's are calling their see saw.... see saw... so I know - for sure - that Spring is close by.
I'll be back with my Paper Players card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Hi Jaydee,
I'm sorry for the delay in posting your card...I posted it on the blog a few hours ago :)
I love your take on the code word! Your lighthouse is so pretty, and your scene was colored perfectly! Love how you completed the inside with a sketch of your focal point and a greeting, too...so lovely, as always!
I hear ya when it comes to patiently waiting for spring! We had a big snow storm earlier this week, and more snow today!!! Hoping that's the end of it, so we can both open up and let the warm fresh air in ~ Hugs, Barb

Your card is stunning, and I love how you decorated the inside of it as well :)
