Hey Chickie for Paper Players #337

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

My card post is very late for the challenge this week.   Lou and I have just returned from celebrating my big birthday on a surprise cruise in the Caribbean and, although I thought I had created the post and scheduled it.... it seems that in my haste to get packed and ready to go.... I hadn't saved the post!  Luckily, I did have my card already before I left.   So, because I am so late, I will make this a really quick post and share a little about our vacation - and some photos - later in the week.

It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our challenge this week and she has a great sketch:

I decided to use my Simon Says Stamp card kit from last month and use the little chick image instead of the bunny.

To create the background, I used the stencil from the kit and then, to make the vertical layer, I used another stencil and some transparent embossing paste.    Here's a look at the little transparent dots - so that you can see there really is a vertical layer :-)

I stamped and colored the little chick and fussy cut right around the edge of him.  I really wanted him to stand proud of the base.  Here's my card:

I love the DSP behind it - also comes int eh SSS kit.  I think the wonky stitched rectangle works so well with the image:-)

I hope you will play along with us this week and, as usual, if you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than our fabulous design team creations:

On a personal note:

7 days away - in the sun - with my darling hubby - was a great way to celebrate my BIG birthday.  I promise I will share some photos of local floral and avifauna later in the week.  Right now, I need to go do washing, cleaning and go cuddle my putty tats.  I'll be back tomorrow.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
