Beautiful You for Inkspirational #133
27 April 2017
Hi Everyone.
Tonight's card was created for the really creative challenge across at Inkspirational.
Isn't that cool? I actually love graffiti art and love visiting cities where they value it. Oh.... and I am Banksy fan
I wanted to do something clean and simple and had this image in my head that involved my crafter's workshop brick stencil and an image from my favorite SU set - Beautiful You.
I began by using my altenew inks and and lighlty stenciling over the bricks - I wanted it to look as though some brick was exposed and the rest was plastered. Take a look below to see what I mean:
I then stamped the image from Beautiful You - and the sentiment onto the stenciled area. To make the female image pop - I used some Soft Sky polka dot DSP and stamped the image over that and fussy cut around the dress and the hat - and applied that to the stamped image on the base.
Here's my card:
The only bit of fiddling I had to do was the inside of the hat. I couldn't cut that out from the DSP layer - so I cut around the top of the brim of the hat and then just colored the inside of the brim with a copic marker. It makes it look as though the outside of the hat has the polka dots - but the inside is plain silk :-)
I then worked on the inside of the card. I replicated the image - and stamped the sentiment over the top:
I had such fun creating this card and the challenge really did force me to think outside the box and I was happy with how the card turned out.
On a personal note:
Well, it was a good day at the office today. It was the day that I started to hand over all the projects and work efforts that I have been leading and doing.... and it felt great! I have less than a month to go and am so looking forward to having a couple of month's off work to regroup and recharge (and enjoy the Minnesota summer) - and then restarting work. I don't know what that will be yet, but it's an adventure I am so looking forward to. Many of our teams will be 80% smaller in 5 weeks time. Some as large as 90%. Executive management, who is not affected by this co-location - are running around as though nothing has/is changing. It's like being in the twilight zone! But, I shall soon be out of the twlight zone and into the summer sun :-)
Talking about summer sun..... errr... not sure where it went, but we had snow on the ground this morning - and are expecting more on Saturday!
When it was 75 degrees last Saturday I took a photo of this birdie and couldn't understand why they were still here... The Junco's have normally left by this stage and gone to cooler climes up north. Errr... I think they were trying to tell us that Old Man Winter hadn't let go of his grip just yet :-)
I'll be back tomorrow with my Addicted to CAS card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
