Rainbow Bouquet for Addicted to CAS #109
15 April 2017
HI Everyone.
Happy Saturday. It's the fabulous Doni's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge and she has a colorful code word for us:
We hope you play along with us this week as there is another great prize from our sponsor Create a Smile Stamps and they are offering 15€ as a prize for the winner!
If you are looking for some great inspiration, you have to look no further than the cards from our fabulous design team - and our very talented guest designer for this week - Rahmat.
For my card, I was really tempted to create a traditional rainbow card and, by that, I mean a card that uses the ROYGBIV colors in order. My first attempt did that, but I just wasn't happy with it, so went in a different direction and used the rainbow colors in a bouquet instead - mixing them up.
I started by stamping the bouquet image onto watercolor card stock and then used my Zig Brush markers to add the initial layer of color on the flowers. After that, I went in with my Prismacolor pencils and added a little more detail.
I finished off the bouquet by adding a little blue around it and mounting it onto a Soft Sky base. The sentiment comes from Altenew's Label Love. I really like these stamps and am hoping that they might come out with another set and different sentiments :-)
Here's my card:
For the stamped flowers, I used Versamark and some new embossing powder from Hero called White Puff. It does exactly what it says, when you heat set it, the powder puffs up a little - and I really liked that look on the watercolor paper.
On a personal note:
Well, it must be Spring in Minnesota. It was 75 last Saturday and on Monday we woke up to snow! The rest of the week has been pretty dull and grey and raining .... BUT... the good thing about that.... green "stuff" is starting to appear - and our Spring birds are starting to arrive. Unlike Colleen, we won't see our Hummingbirds for another month, but the Tree Swallows are back! A couple of flights of swallows have been through our yard and checked out the nesting boxes; squabbled over them - and then left!
We do seem to still have our pair of pheasant's hanging around. We generally only see the male pheasant about once or twice a year and were so surprised when he came around two days in a row. then we saw a trio of females and they came past a couple of times. A few days went past and we didn't see them and suddenly, I found that my early morning wake up call was the male pheasant. He's been with us - and his female - for the last couple of weeks and we are thrilled that they have taken up residence - and hope they stay and produce little pheasants :-)
They are incredibly frisky and take flight as soon as they see you, so it's tough to get a photo - but I did manage to open the back door and take a photo of them both around the feeder - but it was through the deck railing!
And his female friend would not stand still long enough for me to get a really good photo of her - AND she is really hard to see in the brown wetland right now.
I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

You always make the prettiest cards, Jaydee! I love how your embossing powder added texture to your design and your coloring is just beautiful! Fabulous details with your pencils, too :)
Thanks for sharing the photos of your visitors with us! I do hope the weather stays nice for you from here on out, and the 'green stuff' just keeps on coming! Such fun to visit your blog...Hugs, Barb

Oh, that male pheasant is just gorgeous! I, like you, really hope that they stick around. (I'm hoping for more photos.) Thanks for sharing.

What a creative way to use the rainbow theme, Jaydee. The flowers look wonderful and I love the shape of the stitched panel.

What a beautiful card, Jaydee. I love these flowers in rainbow colors. A while ago I tried white embossing powder on watercolor paper but could not see the design. I have some of the Hero Arts Puff White EP and will have to try that. Thanks for the tip. Great job of mixing Zigs with Prismacolor pencils. It's a winning combination when you do it. I'll see what happens when I give it a go. Have a great week.
