Birthday Cupcake for Paper Players #343
07 May 2017
Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday.
I have a "sweet" card for you tonight! It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme for us:
Now.... as this is a "sweet" challenge, I was tempted to put a photo of my Charlie Cat on my card, but thought that might be a cheating a little.... mind you... he is very sweet!
Instead, I went with a clean and simple birthday card that could work for either gender. It was also a great excuse for me to pull out my new Altenew stencil to use for the background to the cupcake.
I love the subtle striping and pattern on the stencil and it really helps to add a little interest to the card base and to ground my cupcake
I used a blue color scheme and yes, I have really seen cupcakes this color! I stamped the cupcake and fussy cut it and mounted it to the stenciled base using foam squares. I added a little shimmer and shine to the cherry and then stamped the sentiment.
Here's my card:
I kept the inside just as simple with a little stamping - a bunch of balloons - and the sentiment.
Of course, I had to add a little stamping to the envelope as well:
I hope you will join us and play along with LeAnne's challenge this week. As usual, if you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than our fabulous design team:
On a personal note:
It was an absolutely glorious 77 degrees yesterday and the sun was streaming most of the day. Today was a little cooler - a high of 67 - but still gorgeous. The grass is turning green in the wetland - and the leaves are starting to sprout. Oh.... FINALLY.... Spring is on her way!
Our woodpeckers are incredibly active and the chickadees are very furtive. We don't know where the chickadee's are nesting, but they are very quiet.
I'll be back with another card for you tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
