Feather Finery and an anniversary

Hi Everyone.

Popping in to share a card I made for Inkspirational challenge, using the casethissketch challenge, too.

I saw this photo at Inspirational and was really inspired by the colors (the greys, brown and white feathers.  What an amazing photograph that Marina took.    However, I needed a sketch - and, once again, the sketch at casethissketch was perfect.

and here's the sketch:

It took me a little while to work out how I was going to accommodate the multiple elements of the photo challenge and then realized that I had an old Papertrey Ink set called Feather Finery - and it was perfect.    I cut the circular element using my stitched circle dies.

Here's my card:

I was really pleased with how this card turned out.   The colors are so different for me - and I'd forgotten just how gorgeous those feather stamps are!

On a personal note:

Tonight Lou and I celebrate 5 years since we purchased our wonderful new home.  I suppose I need to stop calling it "new" - as we are far away from "new" now.   As I type this blog post, we have the deck door open and all I can hear is the calling of the Spring Peepers.  I will never forget the night that we moved into the house.   It had been a VERY long day.  We had no furniture except a mattress, a chaise lounge and 2 picnic chairs.   It was a very early start to the day as we had to travel the 2 hours north  and then south again after we signed the papers and took the cats to the kennels near the new house for the night.  The night before we finished packing and getting ready.

The next morning we were up at 5.30 and I was at work by 6am.  The moving guys arrived and I was still on conference calls trying to direct the moving team at the same time.  It was a good couple of hours packing up the van and then another couple of hours in searing heat - in the high 80s if I remember - driving up to the new hours.  Then a couple of hours to unpack the moving van.

After that, we still had to try to start unpacking and getting everything in its place.  That night, I went to bath in my wonderful new bath and opened the windows in the bedroom.   The sound coming from the Spring Peepers had me in awe.  I hadn't heard frogs calling that loudly since a trip to the Kruger National Park in the middle of a massive storm - 25 years earlier.

5 years on from that first night in our new house - I am still in awe of the frogs and wait with intense anticipation every spring.  It only occurs for a couple of weeks - but those weeks are so precious.  Being lulled to sleep by the sound of frogs.... well, it's something I have never experienced before - and am so blessed that we get to experience this every year.

In case you are wondering what that sounds like...... here you go - no picture - just sound :-)

Before I go - Colleen - so glad to hear that your Hummingbirds and Dragonfly's are back.... we are still waiting for ours to arrive.   Doris - thank you for rescuing kitties - it makes my hear smile - and I know Colleen does, too :-)  Marina - every time I see your comment about "Far Away Africa" - aways takes me back to my time there :-)  Jeanne - so glad you enjoyed my photo of Charlie - and I know you will be loving your spring walks with your new companion :-)

I'll be back later in the week with another card.   In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
