Stampin! with Jaydee

 Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

For tonight's Addicted to CAS challenge I decided to make a card for my bestie.   So... because of that - and because she hasn't received it yet - I will not be showing you the inside - and the sentiment :-)

When Pammie was a little girl, I was always jealous of her pink tutu and ballet shoes.  She also did tap and can still do a mean Charleston :-)  Me.... nah... I was the athletic type, never the elegant ballet  type.   

When I saw the Hero Arts April card kit, I knew that I absolutely had to buy it.   Not just because I could make a card for Pammie - but also for the Cards for Hospitalized Kids charity.  I thought I would be able to make some fabulous cards from this amazing set.

Back to my card tonight.  I stamped the tutu three times vertically and colored them with three colors of pink Copic markers.  I framed them with the cross-stitch frame and, although you can't see it, I did add a little shimmer and shine to the bodice :-)

So.. have you guessed what our code word is for tonight?    Yep, PINK!

It's hard to tell in this photo - but the little bows of the tutu are actually hearts and I colored them red with a gel pen.  I hope that Pammie will like her card when she gets it in the post.

On a personal note:

Oh..... YES.... not only have the Orioles arrived - but the Redbreasted Grosbeak has too!   Spring is here in the Minneapolis suburbs :-)   That makes me SOOOOOO happy.

Tonight, Lou and I were sitting on the porch talking about how we needed to put out the Hummingbird feeder - because they are generally very close behind.   Not 3 or 4 minutes later Lou exclaimed - there's the hummer!   Sadly, we didn't have the feeder out for him - but I quickly ran into the kitchen and made up my proven humming bird mixture.    NO pre-packaged red-colored hummingbird mixes allowed in our house.   The recipe is REALLY easy.

One part normal sugar to 4 parts boiled water.   We used filtered water.   I boil the water - mix it up - very well - with the sugar - and leave it to cool.  It's ready to put into my favorite humming bird feeder - and is easily replaced every couple of days.    

Why this feeder?   It's incredibly easy to clean - really easy to clean - and doesn't attract mold like so many of the hummer feeders I have seen - and used in the past.   Mold is a major killer of humming birds - along with detergents that are not rinsed.    All they need is a good sugar water mixture and a clean food bowl.   Easy - and cheap and it keeps them fed for the whole time they are here.

In keeping with the PINK theme tonight - here's a photo of my favorite Grosbeak - isn't he incredibly handsome?
