Iris for Inkspirational and Just Us Girls and birdshot bloopers
08 June 2017
Hi everyone. Happy Thursday.
I'm showcasing Altenew's Enchanted Iris set in a card I made for the Inkspirational and Just Us Girls card challenges.
I really liked this set when I first saw it but, having played around with it this week - I LOVE it. I've made several cards with this set that I will be sharing with you over the next couple of weeks. It can be colored with a multitude of mediums and die-cutting out the flowers and leaves is a breeze.
Here's my first card - you can see that I colored and die-cut the flowers and then tucked them in behind the oval window that I created. I used blending on a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock behind the flowers.
For this particular card, I used my Polychromos pencils and used various shades of blue, purple, pink, yellow and a yellow green to color the flowers. To add a little shimmer and sparkle - but just a touch, I used my gel pen to add a little shimmer to some of the lines within the flower.
Here's a closeup:
I also love the sentiments in the set and used one for the inside, which I kept really simple.
On a personal note:
Well, summer has arrived. The weather the last couple of days has been incredible. Warm - in the 80s - but with very low humidity. With lots of sunshine. These are the halcyon days before the humidity kicks in and I am absolutely loving it. I didn't think summer was ever going to arrive, but she sure has.
I like to sit out on the deck and watch the jelly feeder to see if I can capture any decent bird shots. Sometimes I am lucky.. sometimes a millisecond makes a difference. Here's a couple of bloopers for you tonight:
This Oriole certainly didn't want her head photographed :-) I think by turning her back on me and showing me her nether region, she was letting me know exactly how she felt about my presence on the deck!
The rebellied was also feeling shy - although not quite as rude :-)
The male oriole decided to play peek-a-boo with me:
On the other hand, the cardinal decided to exit stage right :-)
I hope you enjoyed a few of my blooper shots. I promise you I take more bloopers than I get shots good enough to share with you. Timing is everything:-)
I'll be back tomorrow with another card and some better bird shots. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Love, love the iris!! Very well done and I love the little bit of sparkle - when I go out and see mine in the bright sunshine they sparkle like that especially if there is a heavy dew.

Your iris flowers are just beautiful. I love them poking out of your window card. Had to laugh at the birds.... so not fair lol. Thanks so much for playing along at Inkspirational xx
