Parrot Paradise Warm Hugs for Addicted to CAS

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

I have a very quick post for you tonight.  It's nearly 1am and I realized I hadn't typed up my blog post for my Addicted to CAS challenge card!

It's the fabulous Barb's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge tonight and she has a great code word for us - perfect for CAS cards.

One layer cards can be so difficult, but if you have the right image and some watercolor paints - you can create a one layer card :-)

I hope you will play along with us this week.  If you do, and you are chosen as our winner, our wonderful sponsor - Stamplorations has a $10 gift certificate for you:

I waited to make this card as I had seen a new Altenew set that I wanted and I wanted it for a single image.  The parrot.  Once I saw this parrot I knew that it would be great with pencils, watercolors and copic markers.  I recently bought a set of brushes that are designed for painting miniatures - but I thought they would work just as well for watercolors - and they do.  You can really get into tight little corners with these brushes and, because they do not absorb a lot of water, it's really easy to work different colors into those tight little corners.

I've seen so many parrots.. but couldn't think of how I would color this one!  So.. it was off to Google (what did we ever do without it!)  I found a couple of photos but couldnt find just the right one - so pieced together two different parrots to come up with my color combo :-)

I began with a piece of Canson Hot Press water color paper and embossed the parrot with Versamark and superfine white embossing powder.  I used some of the Altenew inks to watercolor the image.

I don't know how I keep doing this, but I have ANOTHER finger print on my camera lens and its making part of the sentiment fuzzy.  I really need to keep my fingers off the lens.  .....

If you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than the cards for our amazing design team - including our guest designer for the challenge this week.  Our guest designer this week is the very talented Pam Sparks and I promise you that her card is amazing!

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card and some photos.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

Hello Jaydee,

Ahhh - I keep FORGETTING about embossing in white then coloring in, along comes your gorgeous creation to remind me I need to try this too. SO effective. What a cool bird - it certainly would come across as a warm hug to the happy recipient!
