Spring Daisy for Paper Players #359

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players Challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us:

I decided that I wanted to play with texture on the two background pieces and pulled out some Altenew woodgrain papers that I got quite a while ago.  The one at the bottom is a much lighter weight than the vanilla one at the bottom.  I know that the set I used is called Spring Daisy, but I thought it would work really well to color it with fall colors and the woodgrain seemed to work well with the fall theme.

I began by  stamping an "amlost no-line" daisy in a medium yellow.  I wanted a slightly darker outline rather than the traditional no-line look.  I then took out my Prismacolor pencils and set to work.  It took quite a while to get the colors and shading exactly as I wanted them on the flower.  I used a variety of yellows, browns and oranges to get the color and shading that I wanted.  I used multiple browns on the seedhead to add more texture. Here's a closeup of the coloring:

I then stamped the leaves and colored those.  I die-cut the flowers and the leaves and mounted them onto the base of the card.  The flower was mounted with foam squares and the leaves were adhered with glue. All that was left was to add my sentiment.

Here's my finished card:

Isn't that texture from the paper fabulous?  The brown card stock is heavy weight so makes a great card base, the vanilla is very light weight, so it was easy to add a piece to the bottom of the brown cardstock without adding too much bulk.

I hope you will join us and play along with Laurie's fabulous sketch.  As always, if you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than the amazing cards from our design team:

On a personal note:

It has been a very long and exhausting week this week and I had intended to put up a post last Monday along with some blog candy.  If everything settles down today, then I should be able to do that tomorrow - a week later than planned!  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight and I hope that all my readers in Texas are safe and not affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Hugs

Jaydee
