Music in my heart - Addicted to CAS #127

 Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday

It's our first challenge of 2018 across at Addicted to CAS this week and Stephanie has a great code word for us:

This is such a versatile code word and the design team have done some amazing things with it, including our guest designers - Sue and Je@net

I hope you will play along with our challenge this week and if you do, and you are chosen as our winner, you will win a gift card from our fabulous challenge creater - Kylie who also owns the online store - Happy Little Stampers
Happy Little Stampers

Although my regular blog readers know a little about Lou, they probably don't know that he is also a musician and plays three musical instruments, so this challenge was the ideal challenge for me to create a card especially for him.

Now.... my regular readers will know that Lou is very adverse to bling, pink, fluffy, ornamental - or otherwise "decorated" cards, so i am always very conscious about not using feminine - or pink - elements on cards that I make for him.  USUALLY!  HAH!  This time he will  just have to suck it up :-)  I'm afraid I couldn't help myself and had to add a little pink enamel heart.

Other than that... the card, I think, matches his general "masculine" requirements.  I took some Tim Holtz paper and used my Altenew Big Bold Alphabet dies to create the sentiment and adhered them to a vanilla card base.  I used my Sizzix small heart die to make a cut out on the front panel of the card and adhered the pink enamel heart on the inside of the card - so that it pops out when the card is closed.

Here's my card:

Atcasmusic (1 of 1)

I used a rectangle stitch die to frame the sentiment.  (I don't think I am ever going to get tired of using the stitch dies :-))

If you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than our fabulous design team, who really do have some wonderfully creative takes on the code word this week.  I hope you will check out their cards.

On a personal note:

OK.... we are now deep into many days of below zero temps and we are looking forward to the warm up, which we are assured is coming soon.  Once the temps get to the 20s, I swear I will be out there shouting for joy!  Even the cats have avoided asking to go out on most days, except Charlie.  He's the cat who has the least amount of coat and he's the one that nags the most to go out.  he might only manage a couple of minutes out there - but he loves it anyway!

Mind you, the thing that I do appreciate about winter here in Minnesota is that the days have been incredibly sunny and bright.  It is wonderful to look out over the wetland and see the snow shimmering in the sunlight.  However, as it is cold again tomorrow, I will be off to my craft room for some crafting therapy.  I'm also going to be finishing out my monthly coloring class from Kit and Clowder.  the very talented Alyce has a couple of really useful coloring charts available for free and I wanted to make you aware of them.  Whether you color with pencils or with markers, she has some charts that are really helpful.

Some of you may be aware of a blog post I did last year about how Alyce's classes had really helped me with my coloring.  One of the things I often battle with is what color combos I should use and was really happy when Alyce sent out an email saying that she had created just the thing to help us with that.   You can find the color charts on Alyce's blog at this link.   You can also see the post that I did last year about coloring - at this link.

I'll be back with my Paper Players card tomorrow and, if I can brave the cold, I might be able to get outside and take some nature shots for you.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

Hi Jaydee! What a great masculine card! I love how you paired these alpha dies with your musical notes paper and the red heart is the perfect touch! I think Lou is going to love it!
We're freezing our toes off here in Jersey, too...I am so looking forward to a warm spell :)
Stay warm, my friend, and thanks for the link to Alyce's blog...I've taken a few Kit and Clowder classes and really learned a lot...too bad they're so 'pricey' ~ Hugs to you, Barb

This is a great card for a music lover, Jaydee, and I love how the heart is inside and out.

Hi Jaydee. I am so happy to be joing you and the entire team at ATCAS. Very exciting. I LOVE the story about your take on the code word. Music is such an integral part of my being - I thought it would be a good introduction here. Very clever way to incorporate the music in your sentiment, and I think that heart is so adorable, Lou's gotta love it!
